This is my favorite cheap drafting pencil. I used the original Staedtler 925 35 (all black version) for the last few years until the Rotring 600 won me over. The 925 65 is like a plastic version of the 925 35/25. It is very light and the plastic is the hard, shinny type with good grip. By comparison, the regular 925 seems like rubbery, unfinished plastic. The grip is carved into the solid body, which I prefer over a rubber grip, and is very comfortable.

I can’t comment on the clip, since I never use clips, but it is comfortable when it rests against my finger. The cap is the same as the 925 series and is big enough to forcefully press without worrying about it and the clicking action is satisfying. The one thing I don’t like is that the cap doesn’t slide very far over the eraser. It feels like it is just resting on there, although it hasn’t been a problem yet.

I don’t like the first review. I filled 30 pages of a sketchbook with this pencil without even one lead breaking. I used the lead it came with, which is the very high quality, Staedtler brand hb lead. It has virtually the same tip and clutch mechanism as many of the other Staedtler pencils, so if your lead is breaking it is most likely not the pencil’s fault.

Excellent for cheaper pencil. I never understood people who break leads? Never used pencils before or he/she plays rugby with them leads, what are they doing?..Go figure. Leads in mechanical pencils are thin and are designed not to be extended too much out of the tip(1 to 3mm at most) otherwise they will break off course..this could be a problem of some inexperienced users..to give 1 star (first reviewer) because he/she does not know how to use a pencil is nonsense and should be deleted.

This is my favorite cheap mechanical pencil. I used the original Staedtler 925 35 (all black version) for the last few years until I was won over by the Rotring 600. The 925 65 feels like a plastic version of the 925 35/25. It is very light and the plastic has a great solid feel to it. It is a hard, slick plastic with good grip, unlike the plain 925 which, by comparison, feels like an unfinished rubbery plastic. The grip is just carved into the solid barrel, which I prefer over a rubber grip. I can’t comment on the clip since I never use clips. I don’t like the first review. I filled 30 pages of a sketchbook without any lead breaking at all. I used the hb lead it came with, which is the Steadtler brand, which is excellent quality. The tip and clutch mechanism is virtually identical to many other Staedtler pencils, so if your lead is breaking it most likely isn't the pencil.

These are actually very good quality! Much better than I was expecting. The lead advancement clicker is very solid and precise. The plastic body is also very solid and strong. You could probably step on it and it wouldn't break! My only beef is it's a little short, but that's a personal preference and not a knock against the pencil.
