Staedtler's Mars Lumograph wooden pencils are premium-quality, perfect for writing, drawing and sketching on paper and matte drafting film. The lead is remarkably break-resistant due to its special formulation and super-bonded composition. As a result, you can draw with fewer interruptions due to breakages, and the pencils are easy to sharpen. These pencils also erase easily, so you can perfect your artwork down to the last detail.

The pencils are eco-friendly as well. They are PEFC-certified, meaning that the wood comes from certified sustainably-managed forests. Staedtler's manufacturing processes also ensure efficiency and minimize the use of precious resources.

Purchased because I wanted...

Purchased because I wanted to see what the buzz was about for this famous pencil:

--Nice aesthetics and finish. I like the blue color and grade marker on the end covering all facets.
--Bought this for writing and find it a good pencil, moderately dark in B with a core that is smoother but only a little lighter than a similar 2B Koh-I-Noor Toison D'Or. Its about as dark as a Faber Castell 9000 B and smoother.
--I'd buy this again...unless JetPens decides to bring in more interesting woodcase pencils!

Don't know what kind of wood this is but it doesn't seem to be cedar; maybe jelutong/basswood. Sharpening is easy and clean. The B point holds up well and should last for many paragraphs before sharpening.
