As others have said, the weight is very good, it feels solid in your hand whilst
using it and the grip is useful and holds well. However, the lead advance
mechanism takes a lot of getting used to and is a bit finicky to use. The grade
indicator was stiff when I got it and after adjusting, doesn't seem to stay in
one place no matter how tight I put it.

Pros: Nice weight; mine weights about 22.5 g empty (no lead). Nice design; I
actually like the "regulator" feature which surprises me
Cons: It's a little to bulky for me as I prefer slimmer writing instruments.
The knurled grip is almost useless as it is way too smooth.
Overall: I like it and will us it often but probably wouldn't purchase another.

Has a good solid (but not heavy) feel in the hand, smooth action on the lead
feed mechanism, fine adjustment of the amount of lead advance amount using the
knob on the back near the eraser cap. The clip is not obtrusive and has smooth
edges, and the knurling on the grip is fine and smooth, with no sharp edges. A
pleasure to use.
Only (minor) detractor is that the screw cap for the lead hardness indicator can
be a little bit of a pain to take off at first (I ended up using the edge of a
t-shirt to get additional grip on the hex-star pattern without tearing my
fingers apart to get it open). I used a little graphite on the screw threads and
haven't had any issues since.

I received this pencil this evening and I'm not as impressed as I thought I'd
be. My previous pencil of choice was the Staedtler Mars micro 775 series.
However, the rubber grip on those pencils stretch over time and eventually the
pencil needs to be replaced. This is what lead me to search for all metal
Staedtler pencils.
This pencil does have a nice weight and feel while writing, and I love the
knurled grip. However, the mechanism that adjusts the lead advance rattles and
the click is not as smooth as my beloved 775 series. I was disappointed that my
Staedtler lead containers would not plug into the lead hopper, like the 775
series. I also noticed that it is fairly easy to force the lead back into the
tip. Finally, the adjustable lead advance mechanism is more of a gimmick than a
useful feature and is just another thing that can break and make the pencil
useless.
I just ordered a Staedtler 925-25 Silver Series pencil. Hopefully, I'm happier
with that choice and can give it 5 stars.

after purchasing the staedtler lead holder, and being really please with it's
performance, i thought i'd give this one a try, and i'm glad i did.
it measures about 6 inches and the grip itself measures 1 3/8" inches.
It'sknurled but extremely smooth. offering just enough grip to keep your fingers
in place, but not enough to sand the skin off of them. nothing is excessively
rattling around and it is built solid. the lead advance adjuster works as
described and i found myself using it more than i actually thought i would. the
pencil is a bit heavier than some others offered here, but not so much that it
should be a deterrent. just heavy enough to let you know it's there. great
pencil, solid and performs just as described.
