TWSBI fountain pens are loved for their high quality and affordability, offering advanced filling mechanisms normally reserved for much more expensive fountain pens. The Diamond Mini features a modern, eye-catching design, with a transparent body that shows off the pen's inner workings. About one inch shorter than the Diamond 580, the Mini is conveniently pocket sized, with a cap that can be screwed onto the back end of the barrel when the pen is being used. Its faceted barrel catches light and makes your ink shine, and it also helps keep the pen from rolling away. The piston filling mechanism is easily operated by twisting the knob at the end of the barrel counter-clockwise to extend the piston, submerging the nib in ink, then screwing the knob tight to retract the piston, drawing ink into the pen straight from the bottle—no need for cartridges or a converter! Be careful, operating the piston while ink is in the pen will cause ink to leak out of the pen.

In keeping with their philosophy of promoting the traditional experience of using a fountain pen, TWSBI has designed this pen to be completely self-serviceable. It comes with a wrench and a vial of silicone grease you can use for at-home maintenance.

This pen can be refilled from any fountain pen ink bottle, but for clean and easy refilling, try a TWSBI Diamond 50 Ink Bottle, which has a special component designed specifically for refilling TWSBI Diamond fountain pens.

The pen comes in an attractive clear plastic case with a clean, modern design.

For protection, the plastic case is packaged in a cardboard box. This cardboard box is fragile and may get crumpled during shipping.

This pen only uses bottled ink, which is not included with this pen. Check out our collection of bottled fountain pen inks here!

A classic. This is my second TWSBI mini, and it performs just as smoothly and reliably as the first one I bought. A slightly wobbly pocket clip on this one, but not enough for a send-back. Also, the rubber O-ring on the cap end of the barrel kept popping off (on both pens.) The O-rings on these pens are purely an aesthetic function to cushion the cap placement on each end and don't contribute to any real function of the pen. I've removed them all for a pen that slides very easily in and out of the loops of my writing kit without snagging. This pen performs exceptionally well with my favorite blue/black Diamine ink. Both of my TWSBI pens are true workhorses. Their piston system makes them a breeze to refill, and the supplied wrench and bottle of silicone grease. To get a pen that writes this well, which is what really counts, for $50, is a deal.

Excellent pen from top to bottom -- except for the clip. Very flimsy and wobbly. But it's a small matter and doesn't at all diminish from its superb overall quality. I got the EF and it's not quite as thin of a line as, say, the Pilot Penmanship or the Preppy 02. But then it doesn't cut the paper the way those sometimes do. Love it!
