TWSBI fountain pens are loved for their high quality and affordability, offering advanced filling mechanisms normally reserved for much more expensive fountain pens. The Vac700 features a modern, eye-catching design, with a transparent body that shows off the pen's inner workings. Its high-capacity vacuum filling mechanism is easily operated by twisting the knob at the end of the barrel counter-clockwise, pulling back the plunger, then submerging the nib in ink and pushing down the plunger to create a vacuum that sucks the ink up into the barrel—no need for cartridges or a converter! Be careful, operating the plunger while ink is in the pen will cause ink to leak out of the pen. The pen also features an ink shut-off valve, which seals the ink chamber when the knob is fully tightened, preventing the pen from leaking if you take it on an airplane. To open the valve and allow a continuous flow of ink, twist the knob counter-clockwise until it is loosened, but do not pull back the plunger.

In keeping with their philosophy of promoting the traditional experience of using a fountain pen, TWSBI has designed this pen to be completely self-serviceable. It comes with a wrench, two O-rings, and a vial of silicone grease you can use for at-home maintenance.

This pen can be filled from any fountain pen ink bottle, but for clean and easy refilling at home or on the go, try a TWSBI Vac20A Ink Bottle, which is specially designed to fill TWSBI Vac 700 and Vac Mini fountain pens to maximum capacity. Without the use of the Vac20A, this pen will fill to about two-thirds of its maximum capacity, which is still a major improvement over a typical cartridge/converter pen.

The pen comes in an attractive clear plastic case with a clean, modern design.

For protection, the plastic case is packaged in a cardboard box. This cardboard box is fragile and may get crumpled during shipping.

This pen only uses bottled ink, which is not included with this pen. Check out our collection of bottled fountain pen inks here!

A very interesting pen....

A very interesting pen. The only downside for me is the demanding character of the pen, if you want ink flow for a long time, you have to unscrew the piston system... Other than that 'glitch' [I am not sure how this is a technical necessity, it seems to me a more gimmicky thing to do], the pen performs exceptionally good. Feels excellent in hand, writes smoothly, and dimensions and weight gives it a substantial character. Very nicely put together.

Smooth writing, immediate flow. Great visual appearance with transparent design using almost any ink color! Love included service items which is very considerate on manufacturer's part.
Overall well designed, very functional product at a great price point.

I've had this pen for about a month and generally use it for note-taking and hand letter writing. I have been using Caran D'asche magnetic blue ink and really like how this pen writes. As with others who have reviewed this pen, I feel the pen with the cap posted is a little too heavy for me. Without it, though, it feels very good to me. I like the vacuum fill (this is the first one I have had) but getting a complete fill is difficult, even with the YouTube videos. I'm sure this will take a little practice.

I love how it writes on good paper - unfortunately what I have to take notes on is not the greatest, and because of the large fill volume, I do not need to fill or change cartridges as often as with other pens. I like the medium nib I have with this pen (I don't like fine or XF nibs) but even with this the width is not huge.

Overall, I would highly recommend this pen as it feels very well-made for the price.
