Pen body only, different nib styles are available separately. This holder is compatible with both regular and round nibs. The holder features special double rubber rings at the tip, the inner ring can take smaller round nibs and the larger ring can take regular nibs. The rubber grabs the nibs tightly, preventing shifting when drawing.
Finally, you can get all of your comic nibs in one place! JetPens is proud to bring the Tachikawa comic nib and pen line to our customers. Comic nibs are famous for producing strong and crisp lines that are difficult to duplicate with pens and brushes. They are great for creating detail in drawings. Varying nib sizes are available to suit your drawing needs. Each nib should be used with a wooden body holder.
The video below demonstrates how to install a nib into a holder:
Much better than the cheap Speedball pen nib holder I used to have. It is a
pleasure to draw with this, coupled with a G nib. I find the shape and size
quite ergonomic, maybe that is why I enjoy holding it. The nibs fit in much
better too. But my once gripe is that since the rubber thing is white, it gets
dirty so fast, especially when working with black ink. I suppose, more
maintenance and cleaning required.
I use one of these from time to time when I use my nibs and I enjoy it a fair
bit. The rubber can be cleaned pretty easily with a tooth brush and it's got
enough cushion to it so my fingers don't hurt.
I tried it with some of my other nibs and they didn't seem to stay in place with
this holder, kept falling out. But I haven't tried it with any speedball nibs
yet.
I recently ordered this item and haven't recieved it yet, but judging by the
reviews on youtube, the fact that this is a holder for the maru pen and pen, and
the reviews on this website this is an all around exe lent pen holder.
Though it can hold multiple types of nibs, I prefer using it for precision
round/maru pens and in contrast prefer to use the Tachikawa-40 for the larger
widths of the G and Tama. It's very light and small in my preference but it get
the work done well without having my palm cramp like when I use regular
pens/pencils. Emphasizing on the weight, I wouldn't suggest it to people who
prefer their writing utensils to have a little mass to it; this one is extremely
light.
Tachikawa's line on holders are amazing for their idea of being able to hold
variable pen sizes all around. Most likely the choice is all in preference,
since their holders are high quality.
*if only they made a double-sided manga pen holder* wink-wink
