This, without a doubt, is the best nib I ever have or ever will use. When I
first started to ink, my primary nib was a vintage Hunt nib of almost identical
make and capacity. When it started to finally give out, I honestly didn't think
I'd ever find a nib to replace the old make.
The comic pens primsry function is as a more versatile G or Spoon type nib. It
is capable of wide strokes, though less so than the spoon, and prior to being
broken in (several weeks worth of continuous use), it is also capable of very
thin strokes. Because it is a chrome nib, it is stiff, allowing for very
controlled and precise strokes. However, it is not nearly as stiff and other
chromes such as school pens or standard chrome maru, and thus give a good range
of flex to create extremely fluid line variation. Additionally, the nib has an
interesting crimping along its outer rim, which allows it to both keep ink in as
a slightly improved reservoir, but also totally keeps ink from ever escaping and
Furthermore, if you, like many other reviewers of nibs, have a problem with
'scratchiness' of the nib or 'tooth' then this is the nib for you; it features a
unique bowl tip allowing it to glide smoothly along the page and even reverse
direction with significantly less damage to the paper than any other nib.
Last buy not least, it is much cheaper than other pens; you get 3 for the price
of $4. Most other nibs only pack 2 and cost over $4.
