The Tombow AirPress leverages energy from each push of the cap to inject air pressure into the ink cartridge, allowing the pen to write on challenging surfaces. The pen is excellent for people involved in construction or outdoor work since it can write at extreme angles, upside down, on wet paper, and in cold weather. The rubber body is also easy to hold with wet hands or gloves. The AirPress is similar to the Uni-ball Power Tank Ballpoint Pen, except that this pen ingeniously uses the retraction method to pressurize the ink cartridge.

The AirPress has a strong, wire pocket clip and features a loop that allows you to attach it to lanyards and key chains. Multiple body colors as well as black, blue, green and red ink refills available.

  I'm trying really hard..., June 15, 2012

I'm trying really hard to love this pen, but after almost a year owning this pen, I would not recommend this.

Good
1. Smooth Ink (Not as smooth as Uniball Jetstream), but better than most
2. Clear and solid Black color
3. Pretty look, (I have one in White)
4. Great spring loaded clip

Bad
1. Major flaw on this pen, if you like to click pen unconciously, the ink will leak all the time.
(The pen is designed to pressurized the ink with air everytime you click on the pen)

I got ink smeared over my bag pack and my hand.

If you need a pressurized pen that can write well on any angle, you should skip this one and go with the Powertank.

I really like the design and size of this pen, and it really will write on just about anything, but the ink glops. If I paused while taking notes, the first stroke of the next word I wrote began with an ink blob. When I used the pen the first thing in the morning, the first stroke had a big blob.

I loaded the blue refill that I purchased with the pen to see if the problem was the black refill shipped with the pen. It didn't seem to produce as many blobs, but it wasn't a clean line like my Fischer space pen cartridges.

Too bad. I really like the concept of the pen and really like the design, but I can't take the smudges.

I have used this pen for over two years as a waiter and it has never failed me on the job. I have had to replace the pen once due to my rough treatment of it, but faithfully bought the same model.
This pen can be used to write in any position, and does not clog or produce that blotchy gunk on paper when writing with it for the first time in a while (a problem common with cheap ballpoints). While I have never tested it completely submerged under water, it is very capable of writing on wet paper; very handy for waiters who haven't had time to dry their hands.
Aesthetically and ergonomically, it is a very practical design. The clip is perfect for clipping to notebooks and aprons, and it grips quite tightly. The knocker has a resistant click (from pressurizing the chamber) that may take time to get used to, but is in no way difficult to engage. The pen is rather short, so if you have big hands, be prepared to experience this issue.
Finally, be careful not to overtighten the tip when replacing the ink cartridge, as it is easy to strip the threads.

I love this pen. I have always been a fan of pressurized pens. This one really out performs the Fisher Space Pens and the clip opens wide enough for thick shirts, notebook covers, etc...It also writes much more cleanly than the Fisher pens.
