DescriptionSpecificationsQuestions & Answers
Tombow's Olno Swift mechanical pencil pulls off a neat trick. A clue is in the name "Olno," which is derived from "oruno," the Japanese word for "bend." Lead is advanced by bending the body, due to the pencil's unique "body knock" mechanism. While in writing position, simply move your thumb up to the three grooves on the rubber grip and press firmly to bend the pencil. With this innovative mechanism, you do not need to completely shift your hand position to extend more lead while writing. The pencil also includes the conventional mechanism, allowing you to advance lead by clicking the pencil top.

The rubber grip covers the whole bottom part of the pencil, so that writing and body knock clicking are comfortable. The glossy metallic upper part and metal clip give the pencil its composed style. The top has a refillable capped eraser, and the tip has a 4 mm guide pipe, which is ideal for drafting and provides stability. Lead is inserted by unscrewing the body just above the rubber grip.

I thought I would hate...

I thought I would hate this pencil. I mean, clicking the body?! Does it have stability? Is it comfortable to write with?

Yes. It has surprising stability. I didn't accidentally click it once, and it's nice not having to move my hand far to progress the lead. After quickly learning the motion of moving my thumb to press on the center of the pencil body, I never thought about it again, it just came naturally. Also, the grip is comfortable and not too soft (like the alpha-gel pencils). For me, it's just the right amount of firmness.

If you want to try something new, then I recommend this pencil. It'll get comments from your friends, and it's a great - and comfortable - writing tool for everyday use.

Just like the cheapie version, this thing is amazing. It has the added heft and the attached clip is nice so the thing wont roll away like the cheaper version. But both are so worth the money and the natural flex click is just the best design in the world.

Pencil Breaks your lead, Clip scratches the blue body job off easily with a small move, pencil is EXTREMELY unresponsive and barley any lead comes out after breaking it.
