Tombow's Olno Swift mechanical pencil pulls off a neat trick. A clue is in the name "Olno," which is derived from "oruno," the Japanese word for "bend." Lead is advanced by bending the body, due to the pencil's unique "body knock" mechanism. While in writing position, simply move your thumb up to the three grooves on the rubber grip and press firmly to bend the pencil. With this innovative mechanism, you do not need to completely shift your hand position to extend more lead while writing. The pencil also includes the conventional mechanism, allowing you to advance lead by clicking the pencil top.

The rubber grip covers the whole bottom part of the pencil, so that writing and body knock clicking are comfortable. The glossy metallic upper part and metal clip give the pencil its composed style. The top has a refillable capped eraser, and the tip has a 4 mm guide pipe, which is ideal for drafting and provides stability. Lead is inserted by unscrewing the body just above the rubber grip.

If I remember correctly, this pencil was kind of expensive, and I don't really think it's worth it. The grip LOVES to collect dust, and isn't all that comfortable to write with. The body is very tip-heavy, but its saving grace is its beautiful metallic raspberry color. It's worth a try, but if you're only buying it for the function, I recommend one of its cheaper plastic siblings instead (their grips are also less dust-friendly).

I like it. The grip is wonderful! The body knock works as expected and I am already used to it. I can work on my art with less stopping and keep my eyes on the page. In fact, I caught myself trying to advance the lead on my other mechanical pencil like this one. Oops! Anyway, this has a good weight and balance. Sometimes I use the manual advancement clicker on top of the pen because it gives me a different amount of lead off the tip.

Just like the cheapie version, this thing is amazing. It has the added heft and the attached clip is nice so the thing wont roll away like the cheaper version. But both are so worth the money and the natural flex click is just the best design in the world.
