Leather care and caution:
If the leather gets wet or is rubbed a lot, the color may transfer to clothing or other items. If it gets wet, pat it with a soft cloth and let it dry in the shade. Avoid washing the entire notebook cover with water, and avoid use of benzene or thinners. For storage, make sure the cover is not wet or dirty, and store it in a ventilated area. Avoid storing it directly in contact with other leather items or vinyl items, as the color may transfer. To preserve the natural beauty of the leather, the surface is not heavily treated, and therefore may get scratched easily in the beginning. As the notebook cover is used more, it will develop a glaze, the beauty will be enhanced, and scratches will be less visible. Those who are concerned about scratches may apply mink oil, which deepens the color of the leather and makes scratches less conspicuous.

I got one of these a while back and I love the thing. It looks better and better with age. You get what you pay for, as far as journals / notebooks go, they don't get any better. I recommend Midori Traveler's Notebooks to anyone and everyone. They are customizable and make for a great companion for any writer, artist, etc.

I have been very interested in the Midori Traveler's Notebook. There is such an amazing culture behind this one item, that I just had to look into it. First, I started by looking at the uses people have been issuing to these notebooks. And I have found that no single notebook ever looks the same. I find that is the charming part of it? I am sure that's the opinion, though. I then went on to look at the accessories provided and the supplemental sheets that are offered to be purchased with the Midori. Honestly, I had contemplated about buying a fauxdori because of the pricing and the similarity, but I realized myself that I wanted to have the real thing. I wanted to have the original product that has started this entire culture. Especially with this patent leather. I ordered my own Midori, and I received this item Wednesday. So far, I have yet to start actually going through and writing in the pages, but I am so satisfied with the look of this notebook already. I am obsessed with the touch and design, it's absolutely pleasing. The aesthetics are so carefully placed, yet so simplistic, it's no wonder why the Midori has gain so much popularity. I truly am excited to start scratching away at this beauty.

I have found the notebook that I will use for many years to come. this is a beautiful and elegant accesorie for my bags, wether for work or travel. I can use it as a personal diary in one refill and a professional agenda in another, and they can go together in the same book. But what I like most is that I can separate the refills and going to places without the rest of the notebook; as a Humanities student this is perfect for, in example, going to libraries that allow the researchers to enter only with a paper notebook and pencils, nothing else. It's the perfect pairing for the Kaweko clutch pencil that I got, due many archives forbid the use of pens.
I was going to get a High Street brand agenda and refills but the size of this one is much better. Plus the 19 century spirit of travel and adventure is implied.

I love my Midori.
The leather smells amazing.
Being able to swap out notebooks makes for a very flexible interface.
Watching the cover collect scratches is enthralling.
I would definitely recommend a Midori for anyone with creative pursuits.
Be warned however that transfer of dye can occur, if the leather is damp or sweaty, or when in contact with other leathers.
A light leather cleaner should help with that last issue however. :)
