If you think that the fat alpha gel is to fat for your liking, and you can live without the shaker, then this is recommended for you, but if you think the shaker is what makes Alpha Gels high quality, or if you think it is necessary, then it is not recommended for you. For some reason, I think the skinny alpha gel has a greater writing feel to it, and the grip is super squishy. It is also a bit more expensive than the fat ones that also shake which surprises me, but the writing feel makes up for it.

Overall this is probably my second or third overall favorite pencil EVER. The grip is comfy, the sleekness of it makes it feel good when taking notes for a very long time. The only thing that semi bothered me about this pencil, is that when writing, it sometimes feels like a 0.7mm pencil, rather than a 0.5mm like it is labeled. Overall a very good purchase.

This pencil is horrible!...
November 15, 2014
This pencil is horrible! I used it for about a week because I use other Uni products and loved them. But this pencil jammed after a week. I was not happy to spent $13.50 on a pencil that didn't work. I also used the high quality lead that they suggested. I used other products on this website and they worked wonderfully. I am so ticked this doesn't work!

Absolutely amazing!! I was hesitant at first to get it because it was so pricey, but I ended up ordering another one of the same model (but different color) because I loved it so much. The grip is so amazing and soft. I also love how slim it is compared to other pencils with soft grips. I have small hands so it's very important for me to find comfortable, skinny pencils. I would highly recommend this pencil to anybody. I've used it for over a week now and I am so happy with my purchase!!

I think that this is one of the best mechanical pencils out there. I've ordered A LOT of mechanical pens from Jetpens--specifically the ones with unique grips. I've tried the thicker Uni Alpha Gels and the Pilot Dr Grips, but I have to say that this is the best out of all of them.

The grip of this pen is squishy, even though the barrel is thin. It doesn't feel cheap at all, even though many mechanical pens do. For those of you who hold you pens and pencils closer to the tip, this is a great pencil. The grip gets thicker closer to the front, so you have full control over the pencil.

The only thing that I'm sad about, is that I didn't order this pencil earlier. Because of the cost, I kept taking it out of my cart. But now that I have one, I know that the cost is definitely justified.

Also, a side note for anyone who likes to write cursive with pencils. This is a great pencil for writing cursive! I find words flowing from the tip of this pencil more beautifully and quicker than ever!

I would say that this pencil is pretty good! For the price I wished the quality was a little higher and I would've loved a metal body option for a little more money. The quality isn't as good as the Kuru Toga Roulette or Graphgear 1000. It is better than the cheap 3 dollar ones and the ones you get at the store though. The metal ring between the body and the grip often gets scratch and the grip attracts lint and gets dirty easily. Still, the body and design is very nice and I love the slim version. You should be aware also that when you grip it, your grip will get even slimmer. I personally prefer a hard metal grip (I can get better handwriting with those) or even a plastic grip. However, the alpha gel grip will come in handy if you are writing for a long time. This grip won't break as easily as the shaka shaker version. it is a little firmer then the shaker one.

This pencil is light and feels balanced in your hand. It writes smoothly on both Kokuyo paper and cheaper loose-leaf. The grip is exceedingly comfortable. I actually prefer this one to the fatter A-Gel Shaka Shaker, because I feel like it's easier to achieve precision with, although because it's a slimmer, lighter pencil, I have to press a bit harder (normally I have a VERY light grip).

I just love the blue grip colour and the blue accents. It compliments the metal sheen of the pencil very well. It's definitely a sexy-looking pencil and I've already gotten compliments on it without even exposing it overtly.

I ordered the green one as well and I'm super excited! ^^
