I didn't find this lead...

I didn't find this lead to be soft; I thought it to be fairly hard for an HB and my lines were not as dark as what I'm used to. I had no problems with getting this lead to write sharply from start to finish but I like a softer lead and darker line. I was using this in my Uni Alpha Gel Slim Mechanical Pencil (0.5mm) and the only issue I ran into was sometimes this lead wanted to 'slip back' a little, which was frustrating. I'm not sure if it's because I should be using a different refill, or if it's a defect with the pencil or with the lead. It still works but the 'slip' was not something I experienced with the original lead that my pencil arrived with. The case that this arrives in is really nice and sleek - fits well in your pencil bag.

Going to order another refill but this time I'm going to go with an "H" to see if it's more to my preference.

I think this is a good lead. Very hardy and strong. It gives more of a crisp linear stroke rather than a soft or smudgy stroke. It is very good for writing pencil notes, outlining and drawing details. It is also easy to get a light stroke and a nice dark stroke.

In the beginning, I thought these were a little dark. But as you use them, you understand it's a great quality graphite lead and HB as HB is supposed to be.

Soft but not in the best way, as it writes thicker with every stroke, ideally the lead should be soft and write sharply as long as possible. Medium darkness.
