Without exaggeration, my favourite ballpoint pen of any brand, model or specification. For anything short of running a 7-page imaginative context piece for my English exam, its balance between writing feedback and smoothness mated to a crisp, fine line is perhaps unbeatable. Maybe I'm just having an economy-pen streak lately but I've even been using this in preference to my 'high grade' models of various pens. For $2.25 it looks very sleek and professional.

As with all Jetstreams, the ink is much more vibrant than a typical ballpoint, particularly in blue. I find the black feels inferior to gel inks from Hi-Tec-Cs and Signos, but the blue has a nice color to it and a shade that makes it seem nothing like a second-rate compromise.

The retractable feature makes it nice and portable; the grip is neither too hard nor too soft. Most importantly of all, unlike with some of my fine-pointed Japanese gel pens, it has absolutely no trouble writing on rougher paper, whereas I feel my Hi-Tec-Cs and the like suffer unless I'm writing on high-grade notebooks. Signo DX, Signo RT, G2, thus far no pen has given me this level of performance (although I still prefer gel pens if I have quality writing material for the deeper colors).

If you know a better all-round pen for this kind of price, I'd really like to know.

I can't use any other ballpoint pen or gel pen. The smoothness is incomparable. I had to give this one to my mother though because she liked it so much, too! Luckily, I have backups.

This is my favorite general-use pen, hands down. It's got a bit more bite than the slippery ink gel pen, which makes my handwriting look much better.

I'm not a fan of ballpoints. This is good quality and I see why it's popular but I tend to prefer gel pens.

The plastic body is just ok, fine, really, but this refill in my Karas Kustoms Retrackt is a marriage made in heaven. Perfect for writing comments in the margins of student essays, where a fine line is necessary and a water- or gel-based ink just won't cut it (so, so many copier/printer papers are just so, so bad. So bad.).

Little scratchy (which maybe comes with a 0.5mm point, or maybe it doesn't). If you write quickly it sometimes the ink cant quitteee keep up, but never to the point where it wasn't writing. And I do like these better than the Pilot Acroballs. The writing feel is nearly identical, but the Jetstream has a convex rather than concave grip shape which I personally think is more comfortable. I played with writing quickly then trying to smear it... and writing quickly then immediately highlighting over it... and the Jetstream had the edge in both. The Jetstream definitely dried faster and therefore smeared less when running a finger over it. And the highlighter test was similar though the difference was less noticeable with a highlighter than when I was using a finger to smear. Either way, way better than the Zebra Surari.

This style and size of writing is my absolute favorite. I am a pen fanatic! My first Uni 0.5 mm pen was given to me and it was from Japan. I spent a month searching online a store that carried these specific pens and was absolutely ecstatic when I found JetPens! If you like thin pen writing this is your pen. It's doesn't not bleed or smudge! However k do go through them fast because I use it daily. One pen can last me a month sometimes less. I am definitely ordering again!

I've always wanted a ballpoint pen that writes as nicely as gel pen but not as messy. This one is amazing! It's the perfect one I've been looking for.

this is a very good pen. a smidgeon less scratchy than a pentel vicuna and pilot acroball, both .05. the barrel is a mite too thick.the ink flow is ok. i like the T U L fine point (non retractable) better. it is less scratchy/smoother, plus the barrel is thinner. i have been using he T U L for 3 years and it has been replaced by a retractable version which i have not yet tried.
