It may take a true pencil expert to understand the common pencil's problem but hang in there as we try to explain. When using standard mechanical pencils, the lead wears down on one side, forming a slanted surface. Each time you write you end up using a different lead surface (pointy, flat, wide, thin, etc.) depending on how you hold the pencil. This can cause multiple annoyances: • You might start with a sharp point, but as you continue to write the point is worn down and thus your line widths are not uniform. This can also lead to smudgy and thick lines. • If you happen to start writing with the tip of the angled point, it is likely to scratch or catch on the paper. • The various angles at which the lead comes into contact with the paper commonly cause lead breakage.

The Kuru Toga, on the other hand, has a core rotation mechanism that continually rotates the pencil lead as you write. A spring-loaded clutch twists the lead incrementally every time you lift the pencil from the paper. This allows a uniform wearing of the lead so that it always remains pointed. This is great for students! It not only solves the problems above, but also gives you an amazingly thin line. In effect, you use only 50% of the lead area that you were previously using with your old mechanical pencil.

This body design features a lovely metallic body with white clip, giving the pencil a soft look.

Ridges in the grip area support your fingers as you write, making writing more comfortable. The capped eraser is refillable.

Love this pencil! Lines are always smooth and even. The lead that is included is excellent and almost never breaks. I use this pencil every day in class and it is perfect. I switched to this from the Zebra Frisha Automatic pencil and I was fed up with how often the lead jammed in that one. I have had no problems with this pencil and receive a lot of comments on it.

The eraser is very small and ran out quickly. Oh and don't lose the eraser cap because you won't be able to advance the lead without it

This is fine as mechanical pencils go but I'm still wearing the tip to a slant - the lead isn't turning enough to do what it is supposed to do, which is to wear to a point. The looks of this pencil are ok, but not extraordinary.

BEST PENCIL EVER! Nice thin, dark line. Smooth writer. Cool looking body. Great colors. Only complaint is the tiny little eraser.
