There's a real problem that affects almost all mechanical pencils—bear with us as we explain. As you use a regular mechanical pencil, the lead wears down on one side, forming a slanted wedge-shaped tip. Each time you put the lead to the page you end up using a different lead surface (pointy, flat, wide, thin) depending on how you hold the pencil. This can cause dramatic and unsightly variations in line thickness as you write or draw.

The Kuru Toga eliminates this problem with the use of an ingenious lead rotation mechanism that continually rotates the pencil lead as you write. A spring-loaded clutch twists the lead incrementally every time you lift the pencil from the paper. This allows a uniform wearing of the lead to create a conical tip shape that provides a fine, consistent line.

In addition, the rubber grip is easy on the hands and lets you write comfortably for long periods of time. This is great for students!

Bought this, the roulette and the high grade for my boyfriend and he loves this one the best. He says the grip makes it more comfortable which makes him prefer using this one even though the other ones are better quality. One big big draw back is that he momentarily lost the top and it became very hard to use. SO WARNING DON'T LOSE TOP. the top is very unique and pushes down in a special way.

So with top far better than the other Kuru Togas for sale on this site...without top it stayed in a drawer. My bf is an engineering student and says that these pencils meet his needs both as an engineer and as a note taker. Says the leads break less and give him a nice even line. he is the envy of all other engineering students. :)

The best pencil ever!! I have the pink one and since my boyfriend is left handed I wanted to buy one for him too. You hardly ever have to replace the lead since it's not breaking every few sentences. I consider this an absolute essential for note taking now, I can write so much faster! I like that this one has a comfort grip too. HIGHLY recommended

So far, so good. Accessing the eraser is a pain, though. Guess I'll have to make fewer mistakes.

Love this pencil! Used it on a scantron form for an exam in my class, and the lead never broke. Totally awesome! Plus, it came a day earlier than scheduled. Love that. 5 stars!

The Kuru Toga pencil has a very nice looking and stylish blue metallic body and the grip feels comfortable. I bought this for my daughter and she's been drawing with it ever since it arrived. I showed her how it rotate with the little square piece of paper just for fun. The lead advances with no problem when she clicks on it. So far the top seems sturdy enough.
