I'm a fan of Pentel's Ain Stein lead. However, I was using the 2B Stein lead in my Lamy 2000 and it was breaking more then I could tolerate. So, I switched to the Uni Nano Dia and, voila, breakage dropped significantly. The Nano Dia seems as dark as the Stein, but perhaps a previous reviewer is right that this Nano Dia is a little harder.

In any case, highly recommended.

the lead is indeed durable. writes well. smooth, but as you would suspect, because of their construction, the grade of the lead itself seems to be a bit harder than whats indicated on the label.
that said, its a great lead, doesnt smudge too much and the lines are dark and crisp. just something to keep in mind when making your purchase, if you are use to a softer darker 2b, you may want to try the 3b instead.

Before, my main lead was the orange AIN lead from Pentel. I thought previously that that lead was perfect as it was dark and strong. However, I was not completely satisfied with the lead and it was not smooth enough for me. So, I tried this lead and it was PERFECT. Now, this lead goes in all my pencils and it is a joy to use because it is so smooth, dark, and especially STRONG!!!

I bought these just to try something different for drawing and sketching. I'm very impressed by the hardness of these leads and the very soft feeling they have when they glide on most papers. Granted they aren't 2B darkness, not in the sense of say artistic pencils. It looks more like an HB pencil in darkness but it writes/draws morel like a 2B - hard to explain.

The case is nice to. I like how the back had a picture and explanation stating how you can open it just a little for one lead or open it up more for multiple leads. It stays closed very nicely so I don't have to worry about the cap coming off while traveling with them in my bag.
