This pen writes really nice. It was my favorite go-to for long writing periods because the ink was so smooth and the tip was really sturdy. Unfortunately, the barrel cracks easily around where the clip and push-button screw into the pen, making it unusable. I initially bought two and this occurred to both. I was really disappointed that this pen broke so quickly.

The refill is excellent. The grip area is very slippery. Imagine the most slippery pen you have (for me it's a stainless Parker Jotter), and I guarantee this grip is 10 times worse. It's also somewhat fat, which compounds the problem.

I scuffed the grip with 50 grit sandpaper, I cut grooves in it, I sprayed Plasti-Dip on it. The final solution was to sand it down and put a Pilot G2 grip on it. It's not pretty now, but it's actually usable.

I went to all that work because the rest of the pen is so good. I consider this pen mostly useless without modification. I can't believe this pen made it to production--nobody at the company could have possibly thought the grip was acceptable.

Excellent pen, especically for lefties who write the normal way (not upside down). One of the few pens that doesn't smear on my hand, and I like the smart series for the thinner body. I lose too many pens in day to day work to justify buying the metal body version, I never get these pens returned because people love the smooth writing! Being able to write upside down is a plus as many times I don't necessarily have a flat surface to write on.

Silly name, great pen.

These new $3 Smart Series Power Tanks look better then the original PT line, but the grip (only grooved plastic) is a step backwards. I'll still give it a 5 based on how well it writes and the overall look.
