The Uni-Ball Alpha Gel Pencil - 0.5 mm

Good:
- Stronger Grip than the Shaka Shaka Series, although less colourful within the grip.
- Good Weight, build, and small grip near the end of the pencil helps for people writing down low.
- The gel provides very good protection against flat middle fingers when writing fast or for an extensive period of time.

Bad:
- Major flaw in the design was that there was no clip.
- A little more on the light side.

Overall, this pencil is recommended for everyday writers.

Bought this a few months ago, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Very comfortable, and not too heavy. I don't mind the design, perhaps because I'm not a big fan of pen/pencil clips. My only complaint is that bits of dust gather on the grip inside my pencil bag. It's easy to clean the dust off, but after a while, it starts to dull the grip color. I don't know if it's just me, but overall, I would definitely recommend this pencil!

BTW: I bought a few for my friends as birthday gifts, they love it too~ :)

i love this pencil!! The original is sooo much squishier than the shaking one or the skinny one. the only problem i've found is that people keep on stealing my pencils, so i constantly have to buy new ones!! i remember i got my first one 5 years ago, and have to say that the original is the best because it's easy to clean (if you know how to take it apart correctly) easy to un-jamm, and the tip of the pencil doesn't bend, dent, or snap off like the other versions. \(>_<)/ alpha gel FTW!!

I absolutely love this pencil! The grip is very comfortable to write with and is quite squishy. I don't have complaints about the pencil in general, but I think uni ball could make it a bit less scratch resistent on the metal handle. Otherwise, I love it! A must have when writing or drawing for long periods of time!

I really like this one! I actually bought this one because I borrowed it from a friend, and then I had to have it! It works well and it lasts a long time. Me encanta _3

Anyway, this is a nice product. Out of the uni-ball series of mechanical pencils, this is the worst (rating found on a Japanese blog site).

The only good thing about this pencil is that it writes smoothly, but the other Alpha Gels can do that as well. The grip's not nearly as soft and squishy as the Shaka Shaka or HD ones.

this pencil is the squishiest in the uni alpha gel series. the grip does not rip as easily as the shaka pencils.

This pencil's grip rips easily and the metal gets scratches easily as well. It also has no clip, so that might not be good for some buyers. It has a good weight to it. The grip is very squishy and easy to work with without getting tired or sore. Overall, this is a very nice pencil.

The best pencil I have ever bought, and my favourite one as well. The grip makes it really nice to write with without getting tired. It's just really nice to write with overall. I never use any other pencil than this one. Definitely recommend it!

ive tried most of the alpha gel pencils, and i think that this one is one of the squishiest and durable because there is a little more plastic over the gel...

FANTASTIC PENCIL!!! I can honestly say that I am in love... with a pencil.

I've had this pencil for 2 years and it's working as well as the day I got it! The metal is really beaten up though, it gets scratches waayy too easily.

This is the best pencil I have ever bought. My friend from Korea had a pink one she bought while she was living there, and whenever I was in class with her I would beg to use hers. It may seem expensive, but I've been using mine for two years and it is still one of most used pencils, especially for a long writing project, because it is easier on my hand. It is, overall, a perfect pencil in my opinion, other than the fact that the barrell sctatches a bit easily, butI could honestly care less about that based on the sheer awesomeness of this pencil. People always marvel at how squishy it is in class and I've had people asking me to buy them for them! This is definitly a great pencil, and I will probably be ordering the pink version soon also.

Simply outstanding. The wide barrel and comfortable grip is great for long periods of writing as well as for brief notes.
A small grip at the bottom helps writers that hold their pencil low. This gel is extremely soft, and is famous for protecting an egg from breaking when dropped onto concrete. People with arthritis will be able to write with ease.


In conclusion, I highly recommend this product because of these reasons.

two of my friends have this pencil and i thought it looked really good... so i forgot my pencil bag today and asked to borrow the pencil and instantly didn't want to stop wrighting. we had a test that day and wrote like 10 pages for the essay part it looked weird. but id didn't want to stop!!!! any way i think i'm going to get one and use it all the time!!!!

i don't seem to know why u guys are whining about them trying to rip you off. People need to make a living you know... These pencils are well worth the wait

OBSESSED with this pencil...just perfect for rigorous graduate school writing.

I bought two of these several years back and, while I've misplaced one, I still have the other. Just adore it and I will continue to hold onto it. The grip is so comfortable and it is wonderful for lengthy test/essay writing due to the gel grip that minimizes pressure-point tenderness and soreness. This is the first pencil I used in graduate school that didn't leave a permanent indent (all you students know what I'm talking about!) next to the cuticle of my middle finger while writing.

Sad that Jetpens doesn't carry it anymore, but glad I still have it 7 years later!
