This pen is amazing! I purchased 2 of these over two years ago and I am just now switching to the second one. The first one still works but after extensive use of the mechanical pencil its beginning to stick. I still plan to hold one to the first one as it is still perfectly usable. The four colors are awesome, the eraser is tiny but that's alright with me as I use a pentel tri-eraser all the time anyways, and the mechanical pencil has a small storage barrel. I love the thickness of it with a small gel grip and the amazing functionality of this pen in its small compact form. I give this pen an A+++++ and plan to purchase a green one when they come back in stock!!!

I wanted a multipen that would write well and include a decent pencil. This pen was an exact match to my needs. The inks flow very nicely and the colors a bold. I would have preferred a 0.7mm pencil, but the 0.5mm works just fine. I highly recommend this multi, as it is difficult to keep my friends and family from walking off with it. It is going to make some good Christmas gifts!

I really enjoy using this pen. The ink flows great and the pen is very smooth to write with. I need my writing/markings to stand out and be bold, and the 0.7mm does this easily. I no longer need to reach for different colored gel pens. The green ink, which I have little use for anyway, is not as bold as the other colors. I selected this pen because its weight and length were greater than comparable multi-pens. I was a little worried about the pen being too wide, but it feels comfortable and stable in my hand. The mechanics work smoothly; though, I have noticed that the active cartridge will retract with very little effort, causing accidental retraction as you hold the pen in your hand when not writing. Having a large variety of ink sizes and colors is a definite plus.

Great Pen!!

I bought a couple of multi-pens for score keeping baseball games. This one is tops by far. I can't believe how smooth the ink flow is. True, it's a tad on the "chubby" side, but it's not a lot different than the fountain pens I use so I like it. and for the price? Score.

This is pretty much the only pen I use. Whenever I am in any situation that I need to write I, and am able too, I use this pen. I always have everything. Pencil, a pen, green/red/blue ink pen, its awesome! I used mine for over two years until the pencil clicker started acting funny, catching and holding. I could probably get a new pencil portion or something like that, but I am going to order up on refills and get a green replacement!

I absolutely LOVE this pen! Best pen ever made by far!


P.S. Make extra/replacement cushions. The gel cushion is fine, but having different materials with different designs/softness would be good, variety is nice. I would like a little thicker extra soft gel cushion myself.

Simply put, this is the best multi pen if you're looking for smooth writing.

Yes it can skip, but it happens very very rarely. The tones are bold and beautiful. It has a very good looking design and the construction is good too.

If this were the ugliest pen ever I would still rate it high just for the jetstream technology.

I thought this pen writes incredibly smooth for a non-gel pen. However, the ink doesn't always start right away especially if you haven't used that color for a while. I still think this is a gel pen but maybe because it is a .7m and I am use to the smaller tip. I also am surprised of the lightness of the pen. That Dr. Grip is heavy or the weight is balanced throughout the pen, both have 4 colors plus pencil. I tend to like a pen that is is more evenly weighted like the Dr. Grip so I feel like I am holding a pen that doesn't cost $15.00. I would have liked the grip to be more squishy/pliable otherwise they should have maintained the same material as the barrel. Too bad you can't have this ink system on the Pilot Dr. Grip Multipens and then you would have the perfect multipen!

I'm not sure anybody but Uniball could create such a desirable multi pen. If you are here, then you know that Uniball Jetstream's are the best ballpoints in terms of their ink. Smooth, ease and holy crap that was fast drying.
So how do they one up themselves? "Hey, let's make a multi pen to appease the raging masses."
Okay, so I get a little excited over pens. And pencils. Sorry.

Pros:
-- Uniball Jetstream Ink
-- 4 pens, 1 pencil
-- Smooth actions of the ink selector. Seriously, this is incredible. It is so smooth and precise that I had to do a double take. It is amazing how smooth the transition is. Very impressive.
-- The clip is the selector for the pencil. Say what? I say awesome. Cool and functional.
-- A pencil on a multi pen that doesn't break the lead when you use it. Most multi function pen/pencils have a crappy pencil part that just breaks lead quickly and irritates me. But this one is very smooth and works!!
-- It has an eraser. Very small one, but it does have one.
-- Comfort and balance. Precisely balances and comfortable to use.

Cons:
-- Size. It is a bit too big for my hands. Those that like the Dr. Grip series will like this, but I felt it was a big too large. If you like the comfort of a bigger pen, this is for you. But don't expect something contoured and tight. Remember, there are 5 writing instruments here...with that comes some space.
-- Rubber grips. It is a bit sticky. Not the lick it and it will stay attached to the wall kind, but a bit tacky. My fingers don't move along the barrel with the ease I'd like. The rubber grip is also not soft, which I think is a plus as I can't stand gel grips. Just put this last sentence above. :)
-- Small eraser. Okay, I'm just being picky now. At least it has one!

Overall this is an amazing well done pen for all that it does. Personally, I think they should have scraped the green ink. Made it a 4 function pen/pencil, shaved the size a bit and it would have been perfect. I would have probably let it sleep in the bed even. Good pen, now stay. Sit. Good boy.

My absolute HOLY GRAIL of pens! After discovering the amazingness that is the standard Jetstream, I decided to indulge my color-coding habit with the Jetstream multipen. It was the single best decision I have made in my life as a stationery addict. The pen body has a good solid weight to it, but isn't unbearably heavy (some fountain pens come to mind), and holding it is pretty comfortable, even if you have a super low grip like I do. It looks very sleek and classy, and the color tabs are very subtle, which I particularly appreciate in professional settings. (I like the Surari multi a lot, but the bright plasticky tabs are reminiscent of the good old Bic 4-color pen.) The ink, as you'd expect from a Jetstream, is smooth and pretty much flawless. I do find that with the blue I get the occasional tiny glob, and the green is a shade too light for my taste, but these are very minor quibbles indeed, and certainly don't stop me from blowing through refills with terrifying speed. (I write a LOT.) The pencil is not exactly a Kuru Toga, but it's perfectly serviceable - luckily, I'm not really a pencil person and only use the pencil function for doing paleography work and for drawing lines in my notebooks that will later be erased. But this one pen got me through an entire degree, and is well on its way to seeing me through another. I love it so much that I bought the green version, and also a pink 0.5 version, but they just aren't quite as perfect as the original black. Highly recommended!

Really Great Pen, but the pencil in it wobbles a little when I write

An incredible product at an incredible price! Purchased two - a black and silver one for me and a pink one for my wife - we both Love them! Very useful, versatile writing instrument at a very reasonable price. You can't go wrong with this!

Wow... I am blown away by this pen. It is nearly flawless in every aspect. I am left-handed and I was all over the original Jetstream pens for their smooth writing and no smudging and then got the original 3-colour Jetstream multi-pen about a year ago. When I saw this high-grade multi pen+pencil, I had no choice but to order it and try it for myself. Here is the verdict.

Pros
-at 0.7 mm, the Jetstream ink is amazingly smooth and the lines are crisp
-the ink pigments are very vibrant and concentrated
-the blue is a few shades darker than average, which I really like
-matte black finish with silver accents is very clean and professional looking
-barrel width and grip are perfect and suprisingly not too large for a 5-function pen
-the different colour tabs are subtle but still bright enough to switch between colours easily
-the pen is very top-heavy, which lets you write smoothly without applying much pressure
-the clicking/switching mechanism is very satisfying for people who like to obsessively click while sitting and thinking

Cons
-the grip likes to attract dust particles, but a quick wipe with a damn cloth will clean them
-the pencil is not world-class, but is good enough for general use. I will still use my Uni-ball Kuru Toga if I need for strictly pencil usage, like doing math equations.
-you might be scared to show it off to your friends and co-workers because they might steal it

Absolutely the best pen that I have used, bought 2, gave my daughter who is an art major one and it is the envy of her classmates. delight to use and I feel naked without it.

After much deliberation, I decided to try the Uni-ball Jetstream 4 & 1. The blue body was my choice. When I finally went to place an order, the blue body was sold out. I came to the website the next day to choose another color and low and behold blue was available again! I snagged the last one and now I'm seeing this blue body is unavailable. Hopefully, JetPens.com will be able to stock this multi-writing utensil again because it is wonderful. As a school teacher, I'm constantly switching between different colors of pens and on occasion I like to have a pencil available. THIS IS THE PERFECT FIT FOR ME. The uniball jetstream ink is the way to go. During the same order, I also got another uniball multipen which doesn't have the jetstream ink. It is also a fine writing tool, but jetstream ink is superb.

The only downfall I am personally having is utilizing the pencil feature. It ticks me off because my wife immediately knew how to click and advance the lead. Usually I'm the one that has to show her. It's funny to her, but I just need to practice a bit. I can't blame Uni-ball for this since my wife is able to get it to work. No doubt, this multi-writing tool deserves a full five star rating.

If you have any question as to whether or not to get this style, don't second guess the decision any longer. GET IT>>>GET IT>>>GET IT NOW>>>> (While you're at it, you might want to grab some refills)

This originally was a great multi pen with mech. pencil combo. Unfortunately, for EVERY SINGLE PEN I have bought (which is about five), the pencil will eventually jam and stop working. It's a real bummer, cause otherwise it would be perfect. And believe me, it's not really a fixable issue (it's not your traditional jam, which I have fixed in many lead pencils over the years); basically after experiencing the stresses of normal use, the shaft bends and the clicking function for lead advance no longer works. It's a big disappointment. If you just take a look at the quality of the mechanical pencil, you'll see that it's pretty low budget. I have several Pilot Dr. Grips, but the ink in those is nowhere near the quality of these pens. It's too bad; otherwise it would be the perfect multi-pen!

Easy to switch colors, not too big, and makes your notes come alive with more meaning / easier to read - in full color. Ink is smooth and lasts a long time, unlike gel pens, where the ink is slightly smoother, but run out too often.

I'm a big fan of the Jetstream pens, but this green baby is my favorite! I'm a pen snob, and this series is the best! Smooth lines, easy, comfy grip, and snazzy styling make these pens the best I've ever used. I work at a grocery store, and a lot of pens don't write on the thermal receipt tape, but the Jetstreams have no problem. Even my customers comment on how nice it writes. I love the color of this green pen because it stands out, and no one else has a pen that looks this great! The colors of the pens are great (I'd love to see a purple ink), and the pencil is handy. I prefer the 0.7 mm line over the popular 0.5 mm, and I find that it's really not that thicker than 0.5mm pens. I own 2 other Jetstream multi pens in red and the hot pink, just so I'll never be without (in my purse, at work, and a spare!).

I am a writing instrument freak. I love this pen. I like a fine point and was afraid the 0.7 would be too thick but it is nice. The pen writes so smoothly too. Also, I need a red pen for writing on labels. Most pens smear on the labels but this does not. Haven't had it long enough to comment on how long the ink lasts though.

This pen will impress you. It is not just the best multi-pen in this price range - it's the best multi-pen period! I just bought this and compared it to the Cross Tech 4 (which costs 4 times what this pen costs) and the Uniball put the Cross to shame. The pen is attractive, with a great rubber grip. And the mechanism is smooth (although the weakest part of the pen is the pencil mechanism, but it's still not bad). The pen skates across the page, it writes so smoothly - even on cheap paper! It's a bit light due to the plastic body, but the balance is just right because it's bottom heavy. The ink colors are vibrant. Perfect for art journalers using Moleskine notebooks. I will be buying these to give as gifts to my friends who are pen geeks. An amazing pen at a good price. Now I need more refills!

Additionally, a quick word about JetPens. This is a GREAT site. It's like pen (and mechanical pencil) geek mecca - you have to go here before you die! I ordered this on Friday morning and received it the following Monday afternoon - that is FAST folks. I wrote a review earlier and its been a few months and want to follow up. The JetPens still have the best ink and rank highest in my book but I kinda JUST realized that the black body style is much heavier given that it is made of some metal. I only realized this when my finger hurt from taking lots of notes and then one day I used the silver one instead and was blow away at how much lighter it is! This would attribute to the wobble some others speak of and my sore finger from writing so much (to be fair, i might hold on a bit too hard) Anyways, still ranks high.. just something to keep in mind. That and I lost the eraser cap :*(

I'm purchasing my third Uni-ball Jetstream 4&1 multipen because they are just great! One of them was kept by my in-laws, and I keep hoping the second one will turn up one day around the house. The black version of this pen is very nicely understated. The pen diameter is too thick for me to use at work, but my son found it to be a good size when he was in the second grade. I can write comfortably with it, but I haven't used it for extensive writing. I use other Jetstream pens for that. I like this pen for drawing and it is really convenient during car trips for my son to sketch and draw. The Jetstream ink is wonderfully dark, rich, and goes down so smoothly that I really enjoy using it.

In search of the ultimate multi-pen, I purchased the Uniball Jetstream, Dr. Grip, Uniball Gel, and the Zebra Spiral. Of them all, the JetStream takes the #1 prize out of them all. The ink flow and smoothness of writing is what makes it stand out from the rest. It should also be noted that the spring action feel and sound is better than the others (minus the Zebra spiral because its twist method is completely different). The body is slightly, almost noticeably, slimmer than the Dr Grip and Gel. The Zebra would have been a "go-to" pen for me but it only has red and black ink with a pencil so that immediately drops down its capabilities in times of fast note taking where color coding is being implemented. The grip is solid on all of them except the Gel. Preferring the soft grip, I would LOVE to see a Jetpen with the Gel grip. The Uniball Gel only has red and black ink also... and no eraser. Each pen has a time and place but the JetPen can do it all and does it the best. Highly recommended if you are looking for a nicely engineered writing utensil.
