First off it looks so awesome! I love the turning feature, which is the only reason I bought it; however, lately I have been having problems with the turning feature, but it may just be me. Also the grip hurts my finger and if i hold it too tight it leaves a red painful indent. Though, I love this pencil, so even though I have complained about it I recommend to any, as long as they do not have grip problems.

I have this pencil and i think that it is amazing. I also have the other model too but this one feels more solid and looks more nice. If this one is to expensive for you the other one is just like it but a bit thicker and is plastic. The only flaw is the little ring neer the tip and it hurts when i write with it sometimes.Other than that I would recomend this to anyone.

This is the ONLY pencil..., July 16, 2010

This is the ONLY pencil I use in my traditional sketches.....If it has any flaw,..it might be the tiny eraser,....but other than that.....it is my go to pencil. The .5mm beats the .3 due to the brittleness I found with the thinner lead.

I love the fact that now I don't have to click nearly as often (barely at all) anymore to adjust the lead

GREAT pencil....

Great pencil. Nod has to go to the Pentel Graphgear in head to head but I bought 2 of these and 1 for my brother-in-law. The auto rotation for me makes a difference and the grip is great also.

This the best mechanical..., November 21, 2009
By ctc...
This the best mechanical pencil I have ever used (although I am just getting started!). It feels great in the hand and writes easily without breaking. I normally can't use .5mm pencils but I have no problems with this pencil.

I disagree with the above..., February 9, 2010
I disagree with the above reviews.

The rotating mechanism requires the tip to be pushed in a little, so the writing experience is mushy.

Also, the rotating doesn't work that well. I bought it in 0.5 although I prefer 0.3 because of the rotation, but the line is still too thick

haven't broken the lead yet! Works as advertised. I take a lot of notes working at a help desk and I used to keep a stack of #2 pencils that I'd crank through by the end of the day. This pencil rocks. Buy it if you like a clean, constant line. I can't say enough good things about it. Buy some spare erasers, just to have them on hand. Me, I use a separate eraser, but I have the feeling that I'll have these pencils for a long time!

  I am not a pencil expert..., January 31, 2012
This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.3 mm - Blue Body
I am not a pencil expert as many other reviewers appear to be. What I can say for the Kuru Toga is it is the first mechanical pencil I have ever been able to write with for an extended period of time with out continually breaking the lead. I have a heavy hand when writing and I have never been able to experience the joy of writing with a fine piece of lead without wanting to poke my eyes out with the pencil instead of continue writing. I can't say it the lead rotation device throws off your extreme precision compared to other pencils but I can tell you it is noticeable in that it does rotate the lead helping to keep it sharp. The pencil delivers as promised and compared to many other (cheaper) mechanical pencils I have been nicely surprised, I finely understand why people love to write in pencil. There is something unique that is not found in any type of ink pen, it is a pleasure hard to describe, I find it very soft and calming. It makes my writing even more relaxing than previously experienced. And becasue this pencil helped me to learn that wonderful lesson I give it 5 stars... Excellent review and highly recommended.

This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.3 mm - Blue Body
I take notes for middle school students all day. I have this pencil and a Original Series (0.5). This my go-to pencil I use (2B or B) lead. This is nice and dark and very thin. I have no paper digging that sometimes happens with HD leads.

  I absolutely love this..., January 17, 2011
This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - Black Body
I absolutely love this pencil. I just ran out of lead today and tried to write with another pencil when I realized how great it is.

My teacher recommended it to me, and it's all I use now. I can't stand to use other pencils which write slowly, are too thick, and chip off. This pencil writes like a ballpoint pen, and the weight is very nice. It's auto sharpening features works perfectly and over the last month it has only chipped off once.

The two things I dislike about this pencil are the fact that the grip is a bit slippery (but not so slippery it's unusable, at all,) and I'm constantly worried about it stabbing me in my pocket. The tip doesn't retract, and it's a little sharp, which makes it a bit frustrating to carry in my pocket.

Overall, I love this pencil, and couldn't use another.

This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - White Body
My favorite pencil. I'm amazed it works as well as it does.

Note: To do its trick it needs either harder lead, a light touch, or for the pencil to be picked up. But only one of these. Example: If drawing a two foot line with soft lead, the lead might flatten out, or even with harder lead if the pencil is pushed down with much pressure.

If you don't have one, get one. Heck, if you're at Jetpens you have a collection anyhow probably.

To the guy who asked..., December 6, 2010
This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - Black Body
To the guy who asked what the difference is, I'll answer.
I ordered both and got them today.

The high grade one's grip is a little slick in comparison to the older one, so I'd say the older one is easier to hold on to. The old one's kuru toga device is also easier to activate, I guess you can say. You don't have to press down as hard to make it rotate.

I bought the pencils to draw with and noticed right away that they're better for writing. If you're using them for sketching, it probably won't rotate as much until you do a dark line. Not a problem though because you will end up doing dark lines, shadows, etc. Now for writing, it works like a charm. Very nice.

Anyway, the high grade one feels nicer in my hand, it feels a little heavier and it's nicer looking. The older one is just plastic. They're both awesome though, but if you don't want to spend 15 dollars, the older one does just as good as a job, as long as you don't mind the plastic frame.

I'd definitely recommend this pencil to anyone. If you're writing a lot, this is the best one you can get probably. If you're sketching or drawing, I don't know if this one is the best but it's definitely the best I've used so far.

This pencil is simply wonderful. A must have for any serious collection. The engine is definitely a love it or hate it kind of thing. I got started with the 0.5 and moved down to this, so I was used to it from the start. Over all it's wonderful and it helps the lead last longer.

This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - Black Body
I love the way the pen writes, very smooth and even once it's been through a couple cycles. Makes writing a long essay readable from beginning to end. The only complaint I have is the grip. It is uncomfortable for long periods and is very prone to slipping. I wish I had waited for the Roulette to get back in stock before purchasing a Kuru Toga (or the now available Alpha Gel). I'd still recommend this pencil line to someone without a doubt, but maybe not this exact one.

This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - Black Body
This pencil is excellent. I've been using it for a month and it has so far functioned perfectly and exactly as described.

The high grade version works just as well as the original but, in my opinion, it looks better and its additional weight provides a better feel.

I would recommend this pencil to anyone.

Good pencil priced right. Looks good, grip works fine for me, works as advertised. Kuru Toga engine is more of a novelty than necessity for me, but very cool anyway. Writing in cursive somewhat reduces the effect of the auto-rotation, since you activate the action less often. Glad I bought it.

This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - White Body
I am very picky about pencils, after reading reviews on this pencil on JetPens and PenAddict, I decided to try one out. I am very pleased with the pencil. I do not find my writing experience to be "mushy" at all. As far as the hole on the grip goes, I am working on training myself to write with the hole facing up and not turn the pencil as I am prone to do. I cannot wait to use it more, I am thrilled about how consistent my handwriting looks so far.

This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - Black Body
This is a great pencil

Those people complaining about 'give' in the pencil, *This pencil is not designed as a drafting pencil therefore 'give' is natural* If you don't like give, get a drafting pencil.

the only complaints I have heard is that it must be held at an angle, and if too light a pressure is exerted, engine doesn't work.

I have one, and write at all angles at all reasonable pressures, and mine works flawlessly. I only wish the tip would retract so it wouldn't pierce a hole in my pockets:D

(but there are other pencils for this. )

You get what you pay..., July 27, 2009
This review is from Uni-ball Kuru Toga High Grade Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - White Body
You get what you pay for, and this saying doesn't disappoint when dealing with this pen. The aluminum grip is very sleek, and the contrast of the black eraser to the white body has some visual appeal to me. The pen feels very solid. My only complaint, although it is small, is that you can see the Kura Toga mechanism like in her cheaper counterparts. Very gut!
