Description
Enjoy the second generation Kuru Toga pencil with an aluminum grip and high-quality plastic body. This pencil is perfect for stationery fanatics, it will always give you a sharp point! Ideal for writing crisp and neat print, using with Sodoku puzzles and more!

It's going to take a true pencil expert to understand the common pencil’s dilemma but hang in there as we try and explain. With standard mechanical pencils, as you write the pencil lead is worn down until it is a slanted surface. Each time you write you will get a different experience depending on how the pencil is rotated. This can cause multiple annoyances:

1. As you start to write you might have a sharp point, but as you continue to write the point is worn down and thus your line widths are not uniform. This can also lead to smudgy and thick lines.

2. If you pick the pencil up and happen to start writing with the tip of the angled point, it is likely to scratch or catch on the paper.

3. The different angles at which the pencil lead comes in to contact with the paper is a common cause of lead breakage.

The Kuru Toga, on the other hand, has a core rotation mechanism that continually rotates the pencil lead as you write. The lead is twisted through a spring-loaded clutch, it works by twisting incrementally every time you lift the pencil up (i.e. during printing words, etc). This allows a uniform wearing of the pencil lead so that it always remains as a pointed tip. Not only does it solve the above problems, but it also gives you an amazingly thin line. You are effectively using only 50% of the lead area that you were previously using with your old mechanical pencil. Thus, a 0.3/0.5 mm Kuru Toga will write incredibly thin lines and have less breakage than a standard 0.3/0.5 mm mechanical pencil.

My favorite pencil. I'm amazed it works as well as it does.

Note: To do its trick it needs either harder lead, a light touch, or for the pencil to be picked up. But only one of these. Example: If drawing a two foot line with soft lead, the lead might flatten out, or even with harder lead if the pencil is pushed down with much pressure.

If you don't have one, get one. Heck, if you're at Jetpens you have a collection anyhow probably.

I am very picky about pencils, after reading reviews on this pencil on JetPens and PenAddict, I decided to try one out. I am very pleased with the pencil. I do not find my writing experience to be "mushy" at all. As far as the hole on the grip goes, I am working on training myself to write with the hole facing up and not turn the pencil as I am prone to do. I cannot wait to use it more, I am thrilled about how consistent my handwriting looks so far.

You get what you pay for, and this saying doesn't disappoint when dealing with this pen. The aluminum grip is very sleek, and the contrast of the black eraser to the white body has some visual appeal to me. The pen feels very solid. My only complaint, although it is small, is that you can see the Kura Toga mechanism like in her cheaper counterparts. Very gut!

I own the cheaper Kuru Toga and I just bought this one. If you can afford it, buy this one! The cheaper one is full plastic, with painted color on it. The paint comes off very easily and the pencil feels cheap overall. This one is weightier, the plastic colored part is not painted, it is the color of the plastic and the grip area is aluminum. MUCH better quality.

Best pencil ever! I have yet to break the lead on this pencil! I have had this for over a year and love it! The auto lead rotation is the best part of the whole pencil!
