For years I used a Parker T-Ball Jotter as my primary pen, but I was getting tired of the gumminess of the ink, and no feel for flowing ink like with a fountain pen. I saw an article in the New York Times about these pens so I gave them a try. The Blue is a little too light for me, so I just ordered a Blue Black refill. As for writing with them, it is a pleasure. The pen fits well in my hand, smooth ink flow, no skipping or splotching like you get at times with a Jotter.

This is my number one gel pen. I've tried a few but this one is best. Smooth writing, retractable, pretty blue ink, and refillable.

I have this in the polka-dot case. It writes very smoothly but sometimes it does skip. I think the UM-151s write more smoothly, but the UM-138s are so much more comfortable to write with for extended periods of time. The UM-138s also have a bit more friction when writing than the UM-151s, which I like because it helps me control my writing a bit better. Overall, this is a really good pen.

I love these pens. This color is one of my favorites. The lighter blue is kind of too light and matches the lines to my college ruled notebook paper. This one is moderately bright and very legible.

Absolutely love these pens. Bright ink, and nice smooth writers! And retractable points!

This is a wonderful pen to have handy when you want to write small and the paper is too absorbent for a fine nib fountain pen. The cartridge comes sealed so it is fresh when you get it. The retractable pint means no cap to worry about. I use it in my Day-Timer and other notebooks with very narrow line spacing. On wide-ruled paper, I find that the writing looks too thin and the point is not as smooth as a fine nib fountain pen. I rate it as five stars because it is in the top 10% of pens I use regularly.
