By fyu...
This pen has a stronger tip and better ink than others. I've tried the Hybrid Technica and Hi-Tec-C pens and I disliked how fragile their tips were, you feel like you're going to break it if you write too fast. In addition, the ink from this pen dries significantly faster than the others', which is really nice if you're going to be writing on a semi-glossy surface like taking notes in a textbook, writing a card, or writing left-handed. After I tried this pen, I never bothered trying another manufacturer's again.

This pen is fantastic. Due to a previous person's review stating that the pen was too scratchy I bought this .28 size and the .38 size. While the pen does have a scratchy quality due to the small size I found that I acually liked the drag on the paper and that my handwriting was far more legible.
The black - blue color ink is a great mix of the two colors, that also looks unique.
The pen ink lasted a lot longer than I had expected, and that was with daily all day use. I will definitely be buying this pen again.

I love these pens. Bought..., October 7, 2006
I love these pens. Bought a few in Europe and couldn't find any here in the States. Thank you, JetPens!!

The ink is very quick to dry, it will never skip or sploch. Nor will it leak if left in contact with paper or clothing. Amazing writing instrument for those who wish to keep neat, fine print.

One thing to look out for is how fragile these pens are. Because of the precision design, the ballpoint is easily damaged. This isn't to say that this pen won't last you till it's dry, but don't drop it on the tip. I broke two like this =\. Gotta kick my twirling habit.

Overall: Best writing instrument evar.

I bought this along with..., September 14, 2006
I bought this along with a 0.25mm Pilot Hi-Tec-C; I've used almost half of the ink Signo DX and almost none of the Hi-Tec-C. The reinforced tip on the Signo makes it much easier to write quickly without skips in the ink. The ink dries very quickly, which is also a nice feature. I also have an fairly unused Pentel Hybrid Technica 0.3mm which stays unused due to the same weak tip as the Hi-Tec-C and its slow drying ink.

The blue-black ink appears black, even if you're looking at it hard. I'd recommend getting a lighter blue if you want blue looking ink.

My go-to pen in graduate..., April 27, 2013

My go-to pen in graduate school! After failing with the Uni-ball Signo UM-201 0.18 mm gel ink pens, I moved up to this 0.28 in blue black, black, and regular blue. I loved these pens for quick class notation and studying for exams. These pens saved my wrist during the infamous "blue book" tests that you typically find in humanities and social science classes. Ball points, which most students use during those strenuous writing feats, cause great pain and soreness afterwards. This pen is truly a great basic pen, and I recommend these when blue or black ink is required for a lengthy writing task.

By far, one of my favorite pens. The color is perfect and the flow is perfect. As long as you are delicate with this pen (don't drop it, etc.) it will work great.

Scratchy with a good flow. A little too fine for me as I'm partial to the 0.38's.

I swear by this pen. The blue black is such a classy color. It writes smoothly and is perfect for taking neat notes or writing in small print.

The color is fantastic but I personally find the 0.28 mm size almost too small considering the scratchy feel during writing.

I've reviewed how great the black version is, and I must say I really like this blue-black color! Writes equally smoothly, makes my hands and eyes happy!

I am rather sorry to say, this pen is really fragile! D:

Which is a real drawback from it being the PERFECT school pen.

The first one I bought, I dropped it on the floor with the cap on. So i picked it up, and started writing again. To my horror, it was leaking ink. And then it would stop working suddenly, then all the ink comes suddenly again. I was so disappointed I had to buy another one. Right now, I am really protective of it , I would never let it get close enough to the edge of my desk x]

Anyone having the same problem?

This is by far, my favourite colour!!

Black and Blue-Black in this pen have been my workhorse pens for the last year. Being a student, I write many, many notes and so have gone through about 7 blue-blacks. Out of that I have had trouble with 2 pens. One never wrote well and another stopped working half-way through its ink supply. Otherwise these are excellent pens! I will continue to buy these pens.

  I think I'm in love with..., December 3, 2011
This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.38 mm - Lavender Black
I think I'm in love with this pen. I'm a huge fan of the .25mm Slicci, and this pen--this color in particular--gives it a run for its money. Ink flow is smooth, pen is well-balanced, and the color is phenomenal. You know how a lot of purple pens end up looking kind of fuchsia-ish? This pen, on the other hand, is a true, deep, royal purple. I adore it. I also got the Black, Bordeaux Black, and Brown Black, and I love them all for the same reasons (although the lavender black is my favorite color). There is a noticeable difference between this .38mm line and the Slicci's .25mm line, so I won't be using this one for extreme detail work, but there's nothing wrong with having different instruments for different purposes. Excellent pen!

This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.38 mm - Green Black
I love this pen. It writes smoothly, and the ink is a deep, pine green that looks great no matter where I've used the pen. The color is subtle (it doesn't scream "I'm GREEN!") but still looks unique.

This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.38 mm - Blue Black
I find the 0.38 mm version to be a sweet spot of fine, concise lines and ease of writing. The blue black ink is a fantastic alternative to the usual black but still professional in appearance to be used in a business setting.

This is a very bright pink! Almost like a hot pink. I like the 0.28 Uni pens. I think these are quickly becoming one of my favorites.

This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.38 mm - Blue Black
This is the sweet spot. The .38mm is not too thing or too bold. I found .4 to be too thick and .3 to be too thin. 0.38mm seems to be the sweet spot.

Also, as far as the color, its just the right amount of blue where it doesn't hurt your eyes but its enough blue to distinquish it from black.

Its the best!

This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.38 mm - Bordeaux Black
I LOVE this pen, and all the DX UM-151s. I teach at the U of Utah, and this is the pen I use to grade all of my student's papers. The tip is fine enough that I can make little corrections in the margins and between lines; the "Bordeaux Black" color is red enough to seem like it's chastising my students for their silly mistakes, but not so red that they feel violated (turns out that bright red pens have a negative effect on students); and the smoothness is unlike any other pen with a tip this fine. The "blotchiness" that another reviewer mentioned is, for me, more like a fountain pen's "flair" once you get more used to it (perfect for writing kanji). Finally, one of the greatest features about this gel pen compared to every other gel pen I've used is the speed at which it dries--it's a smooth, fine gel ink that won't smudge. Awesome, awesome pen. Also great for writing in the margins of books.

This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.28 mm - Pink
this pen is a disappointment. the ink flow is great but it's so scratchy. i can't bear to use it, almost feels like nails across a blackboard. i've used uniball signo bit 0.18 and that was not scratchy at all so I have trouble blaming the scratchiness on the pen being 0.28. i do find the tip very durable and the barrel size is very comfortable.

it would have definitely been my go to pen for taking important class notes since it's waterproof and coffee/water spills are way too a frequent occurrence on my desk but the scratchiness of it is unbearable.

This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.28 mm - Pink
this color isn't as pretty as in the picture; it's almost maraschino cherry-colored. i'm kinda disappointed by the ink flow, especially b/c it's .28, sometimes i have to write over what i've written a couple times for it to show up. definitely wish i'd gone with a .38 of this pen in a different pink.

  I write incredibly small..., August 1, 2012
This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.38 mm - Brown Black
I write incredibly small and the DX in Brown Black (0.38 and 0.28) is my signature pen. I've tried Hi Tec Cs (in 0.25, 0.3 and 0.4), Pentel Sliccis (in 0.25 and 0.3), and Zebra Sarasas (0.4). Each is a very different writing experience and each have their strengths. For every day writing, though, my heart belongs to Signo DX.

The tip is very strong; some say it's scratchy, but that makes me think of an unpleasant sensation. Instead, I'd say it definitely feels firm and precise (but not grating). Unlike Hi Tec Cs, they don't need to be "primed" by scribbling a bunch before the ink flows evenly. The brown-black ink is gorgeous; it's dark enough that it doesn't look gimmicky or childish (though I love those as well :D) but just brown enough that it looks subtly different and has a rich warmth to it.

I want to disagree with..., May 17, 2012

This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.38 mm - Brown Black
I want to disagree with the reviewer that says this color is not dark enough to use for business. I use this pen anywhere I would use a black, or blue-black pen and am quite happy with it. It is especially nice to use if there are several people writing on the same papers, and you can identify your own writing by color. It is not quite as distinctive as blue-black in my opinion, but just subtle enough that few people will notice it unless they know to look for it.

Also, I'd like to say that I find the 0.28 and 0.38 pens last much longer than the 0.5 size pens. It's quite noticeable to me. I prefer the 0.38 size overall. The 0.28 can be hard to read for some people depending on the lights or their eyesight, and I avoid the 0.5 just because it runs the ink out too fast.

Great pen!

This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.28 mm - Violet
I'm glad I gave these 0.28mm pens a try. They are an everyday use pen for me, I bought all the colors in 0.28 & 0.38 mm.
Hint to like-minded pen collectors, this violet color is the only one that must be purchased seperately, because it is not included in any of the color sets.

This review is from Uni-ball Signo UM-151 Gel Ink Pen - 0.38 mm - Green Black
Love this pen, it is quickly becoming my favorite. Writes rather fluidly for a 0.38 mm point. In fact, I am extremely impressed with how small I am able to write, without skipping or any problem whatsoever. It reminds me of fine writing instruments I used as a draftsperson many years ago. The green-black ink is a wonderful color, more of a pine green. I love writing with it so much that I plan to order more in different colors to use for both writing & drawing. At this price I can afford to indulge. Thanks JetPens.
