Add dazzling highlights to your books, notes, and calendars with these sparkling glitter highlighters. "Kira" means "sparkle" in Japanese, and the name is certainly appropriate. The special water-based pigment lamé ink is waterproof and infused with silver and pulverized glass. Designed to resemble fancy cosmetics, the pen bodies are just as sparkly and attractive as their ink.

This set contains 5 colors: Blue, Green, Pink, Purple, and Yellow.

Note: the Pink and Yellow ink colors are brighter and more fluorescent than they appear in the writing sample photos.

I just love these highlighters...

I just love these highlighters. So. Much. The glitter particles make them feel like magic, which is why I've bought them twice: once for myself, and once for a fellow pastel-loving, girly girl friend.

So why did I give them 4 stars instead of 5? The purple one tends to bleed through even high-quality paper. (I use them in my Hobonichi planner, which contains Tomoe River paper.) None of the other colors bleed, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a 4-color set because the purple is unusable to me. There's also the case of build quality: Zebra's Mildliners have a chisel-tip and a fine tip, whereas the Kirarich are single-sided, chisel-tip only.

The final problem is maybe the least forgiveable: they smudge my gel pen ink (Pilot Hi-Tec) even after the gel ink has ample time to dry. I remedy this by highlighting first and writing on top of it, but this solution might not work for everyone.

So, wow, that's kind of a lot of flaws. But I still love these markers, because using them brings a smile to my face every time. And that's worth at least 4 stars. :)
