Hundreds of dollars spent on twelve orders of pencils, leads, erasers, pens, inks and papers from JetPens.com over the course of eleven months and finally find there's a forum. . .
Fortunately, everything I've ordered with one exception has been great. The one pen I got that did not met my expectations is the Tachikawa Comic nib foutain pen - School Model - extra fine nib w/ black ink. If I had read the small print more carefully, I wouldn't have ordered it, as it plainly states that it doesn't like to just sit around. I didn't use it often/long enough to keep the ink flowing well so now it just sits and looks pretty.
I come to you from a long history of writing utensil use. There aren't many writing instruments I haven't had some kind of experience with, even if it is just knowing about it. (Who can afford to have them all!)
My most recent purchases have been primarily pencils. The new Staedtler 2mm 925 25-20 is a dream come true in the realm of 2mm lead holders. Since my first introduction to 2mm lead holders I dreamed of the day when one would come along with a knock type dispensing of lead as with the more widely used .5/.7/.9mm pencils. Staedtler has provided it and I have purchased four of them! Yup! I REALLY like this pencil filled with HB, B, 2B, and a white lead for writing on black paper. Then I purchased all four of the Uni lead holders when I found out they made their lead with a little detent on the end that keeps the lead from falling out when the clutch is released. I have fallen in deep love with the Kuru-Togi pencil and have gotten a ridiculous number of them two .3's, two .5's and one .5 in the metallic body (which I have trouble holding on to.) The standard version is the better of the two models.
Paper - oh, my have I been introduced to some very nice new papers. The order I received today had three spiral bound Maruman Mnemosyne Inspiration/unlined notebooks. I wanted these as I had fallen in love with the Mnemosyne Special Memo notepad A5. I'm a Clairefontaine/Rhodia paper "freak," so these notebooks are a great equivalent in a heavier grade paper with a sweet slick surface. Takes most inks amazingly well and has just enough tooth to handle pencil lead. In the short time I've had the Special Memo I've found it very handy not only for To Do lists, but a great joy to just doodle in.
Hey, this isn't supposed to be a review, it is an introduction. . .
As you can see I'm a little fanatical about paper and writing tools. I think I should fit in well here. At least I hope so. Having read posts by OneLoneGunman, I know me and my split personalities will fit in nicely with the rest of you. So, hi to OLG, Igor and Doc. Not to mention all the rest of you. . .
Happy doodlings,
PW
