Greetings!

Hi there,

I just joined up and I wanted to say hi! I probably won't be a hugely active poster, but it's nice to see that other people have the same fascination with pens that I do.

I collect all kinds of pens, not just Japanese ones, though they have to be of good quality -- both ink quality and flow, as well as good-looking pens. My most recent favorite purchases were a set of Hi-Tec-C 0.4 mm pens, and a set of 40 Staedtler Triplus Fineliners. I mostly use my pens for writing -- I use a different pen for work every day -- and I also have a fondness for fountain pens. My coworkers think I'm highly eccentric with my obsession with pens. My husband is amused and tolerant, thankfully. :)

I actually ended up here while trying to track down a particular pen that I like. I have a single green Uniball Signo Pure Gold that I bought years ago, and I'm very sad that they no longer make this pen -- the fine glitter in the ink is gorgeous. I just ordered a pack of glitter-full Uniballs from JetPens, and we'll see if I like them as much.

Take care, everyone!

Welcome to the pack Shivver! I have 2 Pure Gold pens, one in orange and one in red. Very beautiful writer when they wrote. Both dried up on me for no apparent reason.

Welcome Shivver! dont you hate it when something you like gets discontinued?? I havent been using much glitter pens these days, but i remember back when i was in highschool they were what's popular and I can vouch for Sakura glitter pens, esp the ones called Tiara. I think jetpens have them in the "others" section.

When you do get those Uniballs, be sure to tell us how they are!

nice to hear! i might get one of those para//el pens soon.

Thank you both! :) I will definitely report in on the Uniballs. I just happened to find a set of Zebra Super-marbles that I didn't know I had. I don't know why pens make me so happy, but they do. :)

Hi again!

I got my order! They were:

1) Pilot Parallel Pen -- this thing is great! The writing is so smooth (I compared it directly to the other calligraphy pen I have on my desk, which I purchased at an art store), though the ink bleeds into normal notebook paper (a problem I've never had with other inks). It comes with a nib cleaner to get paper fibers out of the nib and a washing cartridge for flushing water through the nib; these are very handy.

2) Uniball Signo Silver Metallics -- very nice pens, though they are nothing like the Uniball Signo Pure Gold I have. When you write, the ink is nice and dark, but as it dries, it becomes silver with a color tint. Very pretty.

3) Pticolon scented pens -- nice metallics, but I haven't yet managed to smell anything. On the other hand, I'm here at work and couldn't waste any more time with my new pens.

Wonderful stuff!

Pticolon pens are not metallic colored, I think. I have them and they are more creamy colors. Oh you'll them! They're cool and cute, but they run out too fast.

Oops, you're right! They are creamy pastels.

I'm doing my work with the soap-scented one. While soap is not a scent I like to smell all the time, it definitely smells like soap! :) Nice-writing pen, too.

What the heck? Soap smell? i didnt know there was a generic "soap smell"

...gotta sniff the closest bar of soap... mmm irish spring?
Shivver - 22 Aug 2006, 01:28 pm
Oddly enough, yes, there is a generic soap smell. If you smell this pen, you'll go, "Yes, that's soap." It doesn't smell like any particular brand. It's just....soap.

Interesting. These pens look interesting, are they all readable on white paper?
(I am lurking through the older posts :)
mansikka - 09 Jun 2009, 01:19 am
Which ones, the pticolon?

They are readable. But, be warned, they might give you a headache if you use them a lot. I can't use mine, they smell very strongly.

Thanks. I was thinking about throwing em in the old cart.
