Doesn't Uniball Bit have needle point tips?

A lost love can never be replaced. That was my realization...

Earlier this year I came across the greatest pen I have ever seen! After a class lecture my eyes wandered around and there it was--on the floor--absolutely gorgeous! The moment was magical. Unlike my relationships, it was love at first sight...and touch.

It was simple yet mysterious. A long clear plastic tube with no name with an interesting black rubber grip. At the end was the finest ballpoint tip I had ever seen. It was like a needle. I ran my fingers alongside the body and stared in awe as people filed out the lecture hall. We were dancing--the pen and I. Had the pen been a woman I would have asked her out, spent a fortune on her, we marry and have kids. Um...anyway...

And so it was beautiful. I write in very small prints and even fine ballpoints like the Pentel R.S.V.P. pens made too thick of a line for me. That was why I was so fascinated by this newly discovered pen. Yet, I knew nothing about it.

And then, it was gone. I lost it. And I did not know where I could find it since it had no name. I searched pen shops, art supply stores in Boston, online pen stores in Europe, and finally found JetPens. I order a bunch of pens, but realized that even the gel Hi-Tec C line of pens did not produce the fine lines I wanted. The closest pen that could produce similar lines so far is the Zebra Smartline .4mm ballpoint pen.

So if anyone could help me look for that mysterious pen again, I would be so happy! Again, it's a clear plastic tube with a grip (very much like the Pilot gel Hi-Tec C) but it has a needle ballpoint tip that stole my heart.

Maybe I should get a puppy!

Thanks,
Han

Puppies leave much larger messes on the paper! :) Though I am a dog person, so think it's well worth it.....I just keep my writing instruments and canines in separate aspects of my life. :)

I can't help you with the particular pen you may have had in your hands for a short while, but will recommend the Zebra Technolines that Jetpens here carries. I also like the .7mm "fine" point pen (F-301) that is easily available throughout the US. Obviously the latter might be too thick for what you'd like, but they are nice pens. The Techo's are also nice, but have a finer line. I'd say it'd give the .3 range pens a good comparison, but you'd have to see what it does for you. Doesn't hurt to try them...they are good pens.

Also consider the Pentel Slicci's. Though they are a gel pen, they have a ball type conical tip....not the needle points like pilots finer pens. The Slicci's are nice pens, and come in three point sizes....down to .25mm. Very nice and worth trying.

Maybe others can give you some other suggestions, but that's a little food for thought.

Thanks Michael for the suggestions, but I am set on ballpoint pens.

Have you tried the Pentel R.S.V.P.'s? They have a pretty fine point on 'Fine' version.

maybe it was an inc pen?? i'm not sure where to get them... my grandma always throws in a pack for each of my kids at christmas and their birthdays, and says she gets them at a dollar store near her house- the kind where everything is really $1.00 (and there are 8-10 in a pack!). i googled them, and can't find them anywhere. they are super cheap, but the finest ballpoints i've found yet- even finer than ballpoints from jetpens. i've also found a few on the floor at work, but never found who they belonged to so i could hold them hostage for info!!

If the brand you are referring to is the same as the one that makes the Magna Tank gel pens then the company is Peachtree Playthings (www.peachtreeplaythings.com) but the web site is under construction! You can email the company at peachtree@peachtreeplaythings.com. They may have a paper catalog that they can send you.

Hope that this helps.

yup, that's the one! the sites still under construction, but i found a few images with the info you gave me. it says they sell them at walgreens, but they are .7 tips, the ones i had seemed much finer than that, but it may just be the brand. they have a few different styles too, stick pens, retractables, etc.

I love the way you wrote your story. I hope you find "her" (the pens again).
onelonegunman - 01 Jan 2009, 10:52 pm
Igor: There she is again, Master! Are you sure she won't share her blood? After all, she can get more!

The Doctor: Igor, you silly hunchback, Nosferatuia is not her real name. It's just a pseudonym that she uses on the forum, like onelonegunman. I'm sure that she's a very nice person.

Igor: Oh.... No blood?

The Doctor: No blood.

Igor: Rats!... Speaking of rats, could you make me another rat pie? I'll supply the rats!

The Doctor: Alright, Igor. But you know that it's fattening...
