I lost all of my jetpens...

tang.josh - 28 Oct 2008, 08:31 pm
and the pen pouch that I bought from jet pens to keep them all in. It's really depressing to see so much money and good feeling to be lost/stolen. I lost three .3 hi-tec-c slim knocks (in black, pink, and blue); a .25 and .3 black hi-tec c; a .3 pink hi-tec-c; the black and blue sura kura pencil pouch. What sucks even more is that I have refill for the black hi tec c's and no where to keep my newly aquired .18 signo bit and .38 signo rt. I guess this is a lesson to not keep all of my pens (even though it was a pretty small collection) in one place. I left my backpack unattended in a class room for about 30 minutes. (As a note: the school that I attend does not have a problem with theft and the rooms are actually academic centres that are big enough to seat a hundred or more students at a time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alief_Kerr_High_School)

Any one else have a story about how they lost their pens?

That's sucks. Getting ripped off is one of the worst feelings ever.

Never leave your property unattended anywhere.

My friend left his car running outside his house to get something from his kitchen and when he got back it was gone. He wasn't even gone for a minute.

i most definitely know that now. i was stupid to leave my stuff unattended...

I've definitely lost some nice new pens lending them to people, who seem to think they're communal, they like to walk off with them before I notice they're gone...

as for losing a lot of them at once, I never had that problem, since I didn't have a pencil case, I just kept them in my backpack's pocket. It's less tidy, but it's much harder to lose a backpack or have it jacked. now I keep my pens at home, and pack a few with me to class each day. It just got kind of impractical carrying around 100+ pens. That and if I did lose them all I'd seriously kill someone.

ew, that sucks.... i'm always afraid of something like this happening, so i keep a small pencil bag (so i can't bring too many pens) with just my current favorites in it, along with a highlighter, memory stick, etc. also in there, are 3 bics. they aren't for me, just for if anyone wants to borrow a pen. because i don't let anyone borrow my jetpens after last semester. i look over to see the guy not only pick his nose, but clean his fingernail with the tip. who does that?!?!?!

Last summer, I was on a plane to Europe and when we landed, I guess I failed to look under the seat in front of me to see if anything had slid out of my backpack cause when I got to my destination I realized my pencil case was gone with ALL my favorite pens and pencils as well as my jump drive and other personal belongings.
I'm now super paranoid about looking around whenever I get off a plane.

Never lost all at once, I have way too many.
But I remember when I was a kid, and we had open desks and I didn't have a pencil case yet, I was given a really nice gel pen, and left it in the pen tray. I was forced to leave my desk for some game, and when I got back, it was gone. I tried to report it to the teacher, but she said it was my fault.
I have since stopped trusting adults or non-pen-lovers to respect my property.
I also recently lent a pilot G-2 to a friend who subsequently lost it, and was in the room when some random meanie "found it" and didn't beleive it was mine.....
But no, never all. Slaughterage would happen if all disappeared. Although I can imagine my mom throwing them all away or giving them away, thinking "they're just pens"
<facepalm>

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your pens and case. People who take things from other people really make me angry. Someone used to always steal my makeup in high school, they even stole my contacts (used color ones) in the locker room, gross!

EW EW EW EW EW

Who steals makeup?
Who steals CONTACTS?
I dunno, forever ago I got some diamond earrings stolen out of my bookbag(which it wasn't a big deal, I didn't even have pierced ears at the time), and a girl was bragging about it later in the day. The principal never punished her.
But stealing PENS?
Why?
Can you not get your own? I mean, seriously, most of us, if we were asked nicely enough will GIVE someone a pen that we have(I have before, with a pink one that I happened to have TONS of, and the girl really liked it, so I said "take it")
So yeah, I'm gonna put stealing food, books and laptops from students, and money of poor people all on the same shelf as stealing makeup(which I NEVER use anyone else's makeup, blegh) and contacts(I DO need those to see, you know?).
WHY do people steal?
If you get afford something, you obviously don't need it?
Food if you're starving is another matter, but still...

I completely agree with you. Sharing makeup is disgusting and I think it's really stupid when people steal pens.

Sorry to hear about your experience with theft at school. Sadly the only defense, other that constant vigilance, might be to limit the size of your pencil case and to keep the number of pens and pencils to an absolute minimum (or at least carry around only replaceable ones). That's why I have several sketching kits to choose from depending on the occasion and travel circumstances. I misplaced my main sketching kit once for a few days, and during that uncertain time I realized the folly of carrying so much in a single case (some were one of a kind leadholders that are no longer available in the USA market and with a 12 half-pan artist watercolor box the total investment within the case was rather substantial). While I eventually found the missing sketch kit, I took the precaution of removing several of its components and storing them at home. While my current main sketching kit still might be too large, it is made up mainly of inexpensive tools or duplicates from my collection of drawing tools. "Best not to keep all your eggs in one basket" might be the part of the design mantra of the newer pencil cases that can only hold a handful of pens with accessories.
