Pen Mania

I need a pen for thin paper

lacrymosa777 - 11 Jul 2009, 05:15 pm
Ok guys... I'm looking for a pen that will write on very thin paper (like some bibles have) without putting a hole in it and it has to be a fine tip pen so I can write small (like .5mm or .less).

Also, it can't have ink that bleeds since it's thin paper an has ink that lasts pretty long.

Please help :!:

I think if you're looking for something .5mm ish you may end up with torn paper.
I recommend ballpoints with medium points or gel pens with .6mm points and above.
I may be wrong, but I'm worried that a fine-tipped pen may snag and tear the paper.

yeah but larger tips look hideous....
(this is for a bible I have that has a small font and very thin paper)

just an idea - could you maybe write on post it notes with any type of pen then insert them into the bible...?

i mention this alternative only bc even the most smooth writing pens that i've used will probably snag on the paper....

you could maybe try a jetstream .5mm pen... i mention this because it's smooth to write with and the tip is rounded....

fwiw.

A Jetstream 0.5 mm in black or blue should work fine. It's a hybrid gel/ballpoint ink pen that writes very smooth even in 0.5 mm size Most gel pens should work just fine as they don't normally bleed. A 0.4 mm Slicci or Hi-Tec-C should work as would a Signo 207 Micro, RT Gel in 0.38 mm, Zebra Sarasa in 0.4 mm, a G-2 in 0.5 mm or 0.38 mm, etc. All these will lay down a line without much pressure. If you have a heavy hand then anything just about is going to tear through Bible paper, even ballpoints. But if you can write lighthanded then you should have no problem using a gel pen. DO NOT use a "rollerball", aka a liquid ink pen! These will bleed through several pages of Bible paper faster than you can say "Amen"! Do you have an old Bible you are not using any more? Doers it have a few clear spots left in it? Try a gel pen of your choice and see if it works for you before using it on your new Bible. 8)

Maybe I'll try the Jetstream 0.5mm since i've tried the 0.7mm before or an Hi-Tec-C in 0.4mm you say......

I have older bibles but they have thicker paper like a regular book....so I guess I'll just try it on the last page since its only half filled......

Thanks for helping!!!

I use a Signo DX 0.28, a Slicci 0.25 and also Slicci 0.3 in my small Bible with no problems, but I always write lightly anyway (only ballpoints require any pressure). But I agree, you'll be able to write the finest with the Jetstream 0.5 -- I've tested it against my Signo Bit .18's and the Jetstream writes every bit as small and clearly.
