Pencil Mania

I realize that I don't like pencils anymore...

It's the feeling of the lead on paper which just doesn't feel right... Having said this, I have about $45 worth of pencil related stuff as seen in this pic that i have absolutely NO USE FOR.

Image

from right to left:
- Uniball Signo MF3 multi pen - black ink, red ink and a .5mm pencil (~$4)
- Promecha .4mm Drafting Pencil (~$20)
- Zebra M-301 - my favorite pencil out of them all - ($1)
- Kuru Toga in blue - ($6)
- NIN HB .4mm lead refills ($3.70)
- (two) unused Mitsubishi 6B lead pencils - ($won in jetpens contest)
- awesome pentel erasers (~$2)
- Tombo plastic twist type eraser + refills - ($7)
- Staples plastic drawer-type pencil case (not in picture, $2)

The reason I put this post up is because I don't know what to do with this stuff. I have not used them in months... I bought 3 of the 4 pencils recently thinking I would do my mathwork with them but haven't even used them once!

The Zebra pencil I bought last year and all the other ones I've bought since april. I used them all to just test writing with them but never did any work with them. I've come to use pens exclusively and, starting this fall, will be using pens only for my math work...

any ideas what i should do with this stuff....? i dont want to toss them obviously...

Finfannel called first dibs is you don't want or can't sell them. I'd give them away on my blog if I had them, since none are 0.3 mm! If you have a blog, do a giveaway!

Sometimes when you give away things you love a certain tranquility descends in your heart. If I'm not going to use something I would give it away and I would feel happy (for want of a better word) knowing that a part of me is doing something good to/for someone else. It's like a RAoK.

I have a few stabilo Boss highlighters of all colors but I don't use highlighters that much so while I love them to bits I have been giving them away to my students as an incentive for working hard etc. I think I'm left with just a handful now, out of the 20 odd that I had. It makes me feel good.

I wouldn't give them away to just anyone, though. :P

Well, your niece will keep growing and eventually be able to use and enjoy such fine pencils. By then your taste for graphite might have returned. Perhaps storing them away in the back of your closet for now might be a safer bet. Pencils and erasers store well almost indefinitely unlike pens that dry up. A nice Ziploc bag would likely do the trick by keeping your rainy day stash neatly together and preventing the erasers from drying out within your pencil case.

The Ziplock vacuum bags would be great for storing them away. The hand pump will remove all the air from the bag and keep every thing fresh. Available from your local grocery store. I'd suggest the gallon sized bags.

I like this idea, too, especially since we all go through phases (well I do anyways :P ) so when your pencil phase returns you still have these items.

then you can mentor your neice in the "art of the pen" (or pencil in this case)

I'll take them:)
