Pentel Sharp Kerry Mechanical Pencil

I just picked up one of these in black. It look great and you can advance the lead with the cap off or when you snap the cap on. They were out of the olive color (which is fantastic looking) but just got them in and yes, I have 2 on the way! I am really impressed with the looks, fit, and finish on this pencil.

I love the way that pencil looks, but sadly, I don't use pencils very often, so the cost took it out of my cart.

To tell you the truth, my subject name for this reply is misleading. The Pentel Sharp Kerry looks amazing both in detail and overall design. The problem however, lies in its usage. Not only is it noticeably heavier than most pencils that I have used (quite a lot), the weight completely throws off your balance! You may get used to the weight after a while, but it will take re-learning how to use a light pencil once you move onto another pencil. The grip is also a problem- there is none. The area where there is actually a grip-like thing is the silver barrel with the diamond-cut grip design, but it is way too far up the pencil to be of any use...except to extremely large hands (who shouldn't be using the Sharp Kerry if that's the case). After writing with it for a while, any moisture that is on your hand will acts has a lubricant and cause the Keryy to slip and slide as you struggle to maintain control. If you don't use lotion or you don't really sweat all too much on your hands, I suppose this won't really be a problem. Altogether, I don't recommend this pencil to most people, since the price is over the top compared to its abilities.
