I have this .5mm lead Pilot Shake-it model pencil with a black body, orange ring and metal tip where the lead is extruded. Somehow I have managed to hang on to it all these years and it still works great!
I would be interested in knowing if anyone else still has one or if there is a similar model still available? The nice thing about it is you simply shake the pencil to deliver apx. .5 mm of lead when you need it or, if this is a bit too much, simply depress the cap and push the lead in to the desired length to prevent breakage depending on the hardness of your lead.
If Pilot reps are reading this, bring this model back! It's fantastic and was made really well.
Thanks! PS: earlier I had this post up as 'Pentel' but today when I went to use this pencil after not using it for several months I noticed the clip says 'Pilot.' The original white writing identifying the brand and model have long since worn off so that all you can see is a vague outline of the word 'Shake it' on the side. Because a roomates' little brother threw a tantrum and poured a 1/4 full bottle of nailpolish on it and others in my pen and pencil zip up bag and I was able to successfully remove the goo with nailpolish remover this pencil and the other survivors all have slightly melted surfaces where the polish and nailpolish remover went.
