Where can I turn my photos into artwork?

kayanat - 12 Mar 2009, 06:49 am
For a Christmas gift, I wanted to turn my boyfriend's favorite picture of us into some kind of art (sketching or painting or pop art or something). I know there are a lot of websites that offer these services, does anyone have experience with any one in particular, what did you get done and would you recommend it to others?

If you have the right software, like Adobe Photo Shop or Corel Paint shop Pro you can manipulate the photo yourself then have it blown up and printed locally. 8)

But as far as experience with on line web sites that offer such services,... Duh, I'm in the dark(room)!

You can always have a look around DeviantArt and find an artist you like who does commissions. I don't know of a specific service for it, but there are many talented artists out there who would appreciate the extra money.

I like to edit or manipulate photos on picnik.com -- free and very easy. I've used this one a lot.

Another site is fotoflexer.com -- haven't taken the time to explore this one yet.

These are sites where you do it yourself and are highly rated in national media; I'm not familiar with any that offer to do it for you.
