Yoropen EX (gel)
dzdncnfsd - 12 Mar 2009, 06:26 pm
Has anyone tried the Yoropen EX gel pen yet? I've tried a ballpoint version in the store. The grip seems good, but the ink wasn't the best, so I'd think it'd be better (smoother, more effortless), in gel.
I can only find it on their website so far. I hope Jetpens will carry it soon.

Wow, wild shape on that thing. Reminds me of a shrimp! It'd either be horribly uncomfortable or else fit like a glove......but looks more promising than a lot of those ergonomic shaped pens I've seen. I have never seen one of these, let alone used one, but would be interested to hear more about them....especially the gel version you're asking about.

I have never used one, but just had to comment on that... thing. Crazy ergonomics involved there. Since I never learned to grip a pen the correct way I do not think it would work for me, but a cool pen nonetheless.

Whoa, weird pen! I think I'd go nuts from trying to hold it the right way.

COOL!... I want one in Black! 8)

Jetpens used to sell them but took it off because of low demand all that's left is on page 4 of the close-out sale ( only refills )

I found some - the best deals seem to be on Ebay.
I'm quite happy with it - it's not perfect, but which pens are? But it's quite cool, and quite comfortable. I am only starting to try out fountain pens - this Yoropen Gel seems to me to warrant a grip kind of like how you would grip a fountain pen - kind of lightly, and then you "glide" the pen on the paper. The gel's not so fantastic that it will "glide" on anything - but really, it's still pretty good ink, and probably will satisfy most people on even regular student writing paper.
I think the all white and all black bodies look quite elegant, too, compared to their older bodies of silver w/ colored grips. I'd recommend anyone interested to try one out! It doesn't cost too much to order one from Ebay just to try it.
Oh - yes, I find this pen the best of these following "ergo" pens that I've bought and/or tried:
- EZ Grip ResQ (gel)
- Pen Again
- Ring Pen <-- I haven't tried this, but from what I've seen and read online, it doesn't seem like this is one of the better ergo pens.

Looks a bit like an airbrush to me. Or an oblique nib holder.

Sorry, lovymy51, I don't think you can use the gel refill in the bp. I don't know for sure - you can double check. But from all the stuff I've seen online, I've never seen any reference about them being interchangeable.
The Z-II ballpoint does look nice, but I'm concerned that the ink probably isn't as smooth as a gel (most ballpoint inks aren't). Maybe with it being made of metal, the weight would help you draw out the ballpoint ink more effortlessly. But I bet it'd still not be as smooth as the gel.
And they retail for about $50 new, so I probably won't be taking a chance on one anytime soon. :?
