two-color gel ink multipen + highlighter?

So, I may be looking for a unicorn. This seems to be the right group to confirm whether I am.....

First, a short story: About 5 years ago, I received a very cool brushed stainless steel multipen as a gift. It had a mechanical pencil, ballpoint, stylus, and highlighter. (Until 4 days ago, I had no idea such pens were known as "multipens.") I always thought the pen was clever, although, I found little use for the pencil, and, since I haven't owned a Palm Pilot for 7 years, found no use for the stylus. (I'm also not a fan of ballpoints.) So, the pen sat in a drawer. A week ago, I stumbled upon the pen and decided to play with it. I figured that I could replace the stylus with a second color, and that I could find gel-ink replacement for both. So I searched and searched on the internet to no avail until I finally somehow stumbled upon a penaddict.com post that compared several multipens. "Multipens!" That was the phrase I was after. Suddenly, it all started making sense. Some googling revealed that my gift pen was nearly identical to the Rotring Essential three-way multipen. (A subsequent purchase confirms this. Although my pen doesn't say "Rotring" anywhere, I'd bet good money that it is one.) Still, I found no gel-ink refills. Bummer.

But, alas, penaddict and jetpens saved the day. It turns out there are indeed a handful of gel-ink multipens, and I just ordered (1) Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto 3 Color Multi Pen and (2) Zebra SK-Sharbo+1 2 Color Ballpoint Multi Pen, and (3) gel-ink replacement cartridges. They should arrive in a few days.

After that long walk down a short (and probably not so interesting) pier, here's my question: Are there any multipens that will take both gel-ink and highlighter cartridges? I do find the highlighter to be useful. Bonus points for any that will allow three ink cartridges (two gel-inks plus a highlighter) -- it seems that the pencil cartridges are not generally interchangeable with ink cartridges.

So, am I looking for a unicorn? Or does such a thing exist.

(Looking forward to buying a Sharbo X soon!)

I don't know if such a thing exists -- but if it doesn't, it should!! Sounds like a very practical, useful combination.

i think the tip of a highlighter, a true highlighter, would be way too thick to have a nice multi-pen tip..... that's why this wouldn't work. i have never seen one but it's cool that you had come across one...

i have a multipen that has blue black and red ink. so at times, when i write i use the blue but when i want to 'highlight' certain areas, i switch to the red.

fwiw.

I should clarify. There are multipens that have highlighter cartridges. In truth, they're not real highlighters with a broad felt tip. They're basically gel-ink or ball-point pens that dispense a fluorescent ink. My Rotring is a bright orange -- about 7-8mm.

This is probably a faux pas, but here are the refills at Montgomery Pens.
