The fine nib on this is FINE. Very nice pen for the money. The nib is a bit scratchy, though that seems to be individual variation...some are scratchier than others.

This Sailor is a great FP, the fine nib is great. I use it for draing and go back over areas with a water-color brush pen with NO smearing or bleed - fabulous! It is outrageous how great this pen is for less than three dollars. I'm going back for a third round of college (this time to become certified as a teacher) and I'm going to have to stock up on these for my note-taking! I especially love this pen on Rhodia and Clairefontaine papers. A GREAT BUY!!!!

UPDATE: After writing with this on an index card, I let the ink dry fully, then tortured it with 70% isopropyl alcohol, a toner containing mostly SD alcohol 40-B (ethanol denatured with small amounts of t-Butyl alcohol and maybe methanol), then tap water. NO SMEARS. NO SMUDGES. NO BLEEDTHROUGH. This pen is now my daily use pen for notekeeping. I will order more and more and more.
