Originally started with one Pentel Graphgear 1000 0.4 model, and couldn't be
happier with it. I just started to draw manga characters and wanted to have the
finer lines in order to provide detail....hence the investment for the
additional pencils. WOW!!! I love having this full range of pencils, and love
how it is easy to draw with.
One thing, is don't tighten the barrels too much when you are indicating the
type of lead in the pencil - it's really hard to unscrew. If you do run into
this problem, try unscrewing the very tip of the pencil. That will loosen the
barrel enough for you to change the setting.
I ordered this as part of a very large order so that I can draw manga. I live
in NY and JetPens comes out of the West coast, but as usual, they are really
prompt with their order. Because I couldn't wait to get my set.
By far my favorite mechanical/drafting pencil. The .5's just wasn't thin enough
- I thought wow, a 0.4 isn't that lead too thin. I am happy to say I was dead
wrong. This is a FANTASTIC pencil. It works so well and can take a beating.
The nice weight also makes it easy to use when drawing. One thing, watch out
that you don't tighten the barrel too much when you are changing indicators!
I had purchased a single the Pentel Graphgear 1000 .4 drafting pencil. I loved
it. It was a nice weight, and the barrel made it easy to hold for drawing. I
started to draw manga and decided to invest in the set. Becareful when you turn
the barrel to indicate the type of lead that is in the pen. The pen point also
unscrews which allows you to easily change the designation of the lead type that
is indicated on the barrel. If you just turn the barrel, it will eventually
tighten to the point when you can't change this setting.
There has been no other problem, and I knock mine around alot and it still works
great! I definitely would recommend this set.
