THE GOOD: Once again,...

THE GOOD:
Once again, the Metropolitan is an unbelievably good pen for such a low price. The metal body is sturdier and nicer-looking than similarly-priced, or even slightly more expensive (e.g. the ever-favoured Lamy Safari), pens. The nib that comes with it writes well, and isn't scratchy. It's not even particularly wet, for a medium nib, giving consistent and even flow. This pen is classic-looking, even with the violet and leopard print body, and manages to be simultaneously classy and exciting. Some might have a problem with balance with the cap posted, but that has not been an issue for me.

THE BAD:
My ONE complaint about this pen is the nib size. Using the cartridge that comes with it may cause smudging for lefties like myself. However, using a faster-drying ink (I use Diamine's Graphite Black) solves this problem easily.

OVERALL:
Stop hesitating. Buy this pen.

This was my first fountain...

This was my first fountain pen, and I've got to say: I love it. The extra-fine nib is great for me, since I'm left-handed. I've used pens with medium nibs, and I smudge the ink. The extra fine nib dispenses little enough ink that it still writes clearly and smoothly, but I don't smudge the ink. The lime green is exactly as bright as you are probably imagining, but the design is still comfortable and modern.

The pen writes neatly and smoothly, and the nib isn't scratchy at all. The extra-fine nib dispenses little enough ink that it doesn't bleed through normal note paper or sketchbook paper, which is a bonus for me.

Overall, a great pen. Order with the Lamy converter and use basically any ink you could ever want (I currently use mine with J. Herbin's orange indien).

This pen is amazing....

This pen is amazing. The packaging for it is simple and stylish, and definitely nicer than some more expensive beginner pens (the Lamy Safari, for example, comes in a cardboard box). The design of the pen is classy and timeless. The design band isn't overstated at all, but rather subtle and attractive.

The pen itself writes neatly, though the medium nib is a bit too broad for my liking. I'm left-handed, so I tend to smudge ink with broader nibs.

I won't even say that this pen is great "for the price," it's just great. Don't hesitate if you're on the fence, you can't go wrong with this thing.
