The good : this pen is definitely special. The craftmanship is exceptional, is
very heavy and it makes for a fine toy - for example, you can spin the "cap" and
the thin air layer acts as lubricant, can make a "pop" sound with it, or you can
even use it as a weapon in more than one way !
The bad : the pen is so heavy, so it is fairly easy to damage the fine point.
Then, being perfectly cylindrical it rolls easily - this can be corrected by
adding a small bump at the top of the cylinder. Finally, the low air pressure in
the container might mess up the gel ink continuity, meaning that there's an
impression of running out of ink after you start writing.
Overall, the good parts definitely compensate the bad ones, and the pen should
be used as intended - meaning as a toy that writes rather than a pen. A line to
cw&T : make it of gold ( spend 10k) and sell it for 100k :)
Exceptional ! It gets everything done right - the weight, the quality, the
design. Is not as modern looking as graphgear however the mechanism is
excellent. Totally awesome; btw this pen is quite old, I had one more than 10
years ago !!
A looong time ago when Amazon was just starting I had only three good pencils.
This was one of them and I found it in nyc at Art brown. I loved it, and
although now there are lots of pencils more fun it's hard not to appreciate the
quality and design of this pencil. ( my other pencils were R600 and pentel kerry
Easily the best. These pencils are not cheap however they are really solid. I
bought one about 12 yrs ago and I still have it although I dropped it so many
times and meanwhile the clip broke. Can someone find comparable pencils cheaper
? Yes, but not by much ( platinum from Japan is also made of metal ). Compared
with the R800 I think that is a much better value.
Very high quality material - the barrel has a special polish that gives it a
smooth texture. The pencil feels quite light actually - although well balanced.
On the downside - there's no clip and also the eraser doesn't have the metal
wire to take out the stuck lead.
At this price point is hard to find a better value !!! The pencil has awesome
build quality and is also very interesting. Somebody complained about the clip
and upper body of the pencil however this is not a $50 plus pencil. I was very
surprised by the metal barrel :). Only Lamy has nice clips actually.
The build quality is awesome ! The pencil feels heavy and the mechanism solid. I
don't actually see the need for the trick with the lead tube with spring but
whatever. It adds some extra lag and pushing the lead back does not feel smooth.
