Good pencil priced right. Looks good, grip works fine for me, works as
advertised. Kuru Toga engine is more of a novelty than necessity for me, but
very cool anyway. Writing in cursive somewhat reduces the effect of the
auto-rotation, since you activate the action less often. Glad I bought it.
My new Go To Pencil. Out of all my mechanical pencils (& I have quite a few)
this has quickly become my primary tool. If you appreciate good mechanical
pencils like me, enough to have a collection of them, that says it all. Listed
as a drafting pencil it is very comfortable for writing also. If you just need
a pencil, there are less expensive ones that will do the job. This one does it
with comfort, quality, & class.
Smashed by the Smash! Love it, not sure why. Maybe it is the feedback it gives
you- the way it sounds, the way it feels when you hold it, the way it feels when
you're writing with it. It all says the pencil is quality & you're cool for
I was showing it off to a friend at work, it went like this:
"What's so special about it?"
"Have you ever seen one like it?"
Wouldn't hurt my feelings if it was a few dollars less, but I'll get the blue if
I can find it (hint, hint JP) and probably another black just to have it. Cool
pencil that just works.
It's all that! Striking color, quality make, elegant look, flawless function.
Have this pencil in blue, red, black, & olive, never had a problem with any of
them. Very satisfied owner. Very good value for the price.
Nice pencil in hard-to-find 0.4mm. Clean, attractive design. Nice grip &
smooth satiny finish. Thin & light, the weight is way towards the front. If
you want a big heavy pencil this is not it. Standard sized eraser (i.e., very
small) worked surprisingly well. Comes with guide pipe wire (nice! some
companies are leaving this out now). Good deal for the $.
So very mixed... Everything about this pencil is great, except for the pencil
itself. The design, the look, the features, the ability to customize are all
great. The quality of the pencil itself however is extremely low for a pencil
at this price point. When you advance the lead or remove the eraser cover it
seems like the internal mechanisms are loose and moving around inside. The
internal pipe seems like a piece of plastic they took out of a cheap pencil &
put in this expensive one. I must admit I really like the grip, and I do like
the ability to change the guide pipe length. Plus the fact that the pencil
comes in 0.4mm is a definite plus.
I think I would hate to be a pencil designer for Ohto- this is a fantastically
designed pencil that does not live up to its potential because of poor quality
construction. I have pencils that cost much much less that are better made.
There is a lot that I really like about this pencil, and reading reviews from a
couple years ago people rave about it, but the quality of the pencil I recently
purchased does not justify the premium price.
Great first impression! I have a lot of mechanical pencils & am not easily
impressed. Normally I would wait until I have used something a while to write a
review, but I can tell immediately this is a well made pencil. I like it. Nice
weight, well balanced, even sounds good. All metal grip is long enough to work
for a wide range of writing styles. This is a working tool not a showpiece. I
have other pencils that look cooler (a lot cooler in fact) but expect to pick
this one up regularly because of the quality build. Makes me want to spring for
the nice wooden S20!
Workhorse of a pencil. Gets the job done, never had any problems with it, good
value. The knurled grip seems to have the right balance between grip-ability
and comfort. I have pencils that cost twice as much that don't feel as sturdy
as this guy.
