It's all that! There are numerous glowing reviews of this pencil, but if you
don't own one already you may be asking yourself "Is this pencil really that
good?" The answer, in a word: it's better (ok, that was 2 words, or maybe 3 I'm
not sure how you count contractions. Call it 2.5)
I have this pencil in black, blue, red, and now Olive! And I must give a BIG
shout out to JetPens (& Elizabeth) for customer service that rocks! Short
version: (1) an issue arose with my order, (2) JetPens pulled out all the stops
and fixed it! Price, selection, and CUSTOMER SERVICE means JetPens is my go to
source for office-ernalia. Now, if I can just find a way to tell the world
about JetPens without my wife finding out I'm still buying mechanical pencils...
A precisely engineered tool. Superlatives are required in any description.
Pick this pencil up and you will understand. The heft, balance and appearance
immediately convey the quality of design and materials needed to craft such an
instrument. Too heavy for me to want to use all day every day but I really like
having the right tool for the job. If you appreciate quality you will be
extremely satisfied with this purchase.
Love this pencil! This is the pencil to use when your pencil says something
about you. Looks elegant, travels well, functions flawlessly. I have several
different colors & sizes- consistently high quality. Easy to write with, feels
great in the hand. The removable cap gives extra length when placed on the back
for writing; when "closed" the pencil is shorter & safer to carry. Nice weight,
well balanced. No collection is complete without it. When I meet with a client
this pencil is in my pocket.
I have the Pentel Graphgear 1000 in 0.5, 0.7, & 0.9.
Very well made & just looks good. Color coded grips are appealing and helpful.
Feels very precise. Retractable nib makes carrying it easy. Solid build, the
clip is strong and gives a very satisfying "click" when the nib is retracted.
Lighter weight than I expected (not a problem, more of an observation), wish the
center of balance was closer to the front. The knurled grip is not quite
knurled enough for me, but that's just personal preference & it works fine.
Strange but true- the eraser gets very dirty unless the pencil is loaded with a
very hard lead- maybe because this is more of a drafting pencil.
When I purchased this pencil I really wanted it to be my favorite, but it's not.
But the set has a place in my desk & I use each of them regularly. Better
suited to drafting than writing, this is a technical pencil that looks very cool
& is a pleasure to use. A definite asset to any collection, you can't go wrong
with the Graphgear 1000.
