These highlighters are my favorites. Hands down. The colors are excellent. The
lines are dry enough that they don't usually show through the other side. The
cap is kinda hard to pull off, but a bit of a twist pops them right off. The cap
is tight enough that they stay wet for years if you're not using them. They also
seem to last a long time. I still have a few that I got in college (2002 grad),
and they're only a little dry.
I ordered the broad and fine versions of this pen, and they're pretty similar.
The broad is really broad. The ink is very smooth. Maybe too smooth, as I found
it kind of skating across the envelopes. It's also super-dark when you get
full-coverage of the paper. I found that I had a sort of trough in the middle of
my letters from where the ball touches the paper. It does tend to bleed and
feather, but only on regular paper. You don't probably want to write with these
all the time. It's just fine on an envelope. I use the Broad on bubble mailers
all the time and it's satisfying.
I'm not an artist/technical drawer, but I keep buying these pens. They're good
for a little bit of writing at a time, but they're not comfortable for extended
periods. The grip section has a few too many ridges in it and the point is a bit
too fine. The .5mm tip is better, IMHO.
I got one of these about a year ago. It's a fine pen. I really like the look and
feel of it. The ink cartridge is pretty okay, as well. I'm not a massive fan of
rollerballs, but this one is perfectly serviceable. The problem with the pen is
that the knock is tricky. If you don't press it just right it won't stay down.
There's a little hole in the barrel that the end of the clip has to set in to,
and it won't do that unless you press it just right. It's not hard to learn, but
if you hand it to someone who doesn't know the trick they will be frustrated by
it. Problem, or fun party-trick.
The box that the pen comes in is pretty awesome. I keep it on my desk to display
the pen. It kinda looks like a rocketship.
A very smooth ink, and generally well-behaved. It was a little too wet in my
Pelikano's (really wet) nib, but it works really well in our other fountain
pens. The color is something like denim (as someone else said), but it's a very
light denim. Definitely dark enough to use every-day.
