I own many different 600, 800 and also Rapid Pro. I really can’t understand how somebody can say that the 800 is superior to the Rapid Pro. The 800 has a nice grip, nice quality, heavy stuff. But the tip of the 0.5 of the 800 compared to the tip of the Rapid Pro is “butter”. The 800 has this great “pocked safe” feature. But it is only great to save your pockets. When you can draw and/or write simultaneously with the 800 and the Rapid Pro you can really tell the difference. The Rapid Pro in my opinion is the best Rotring pencils available at the moment. Very stable, very comfortable, really a pleasure to use. Far superior from the 0.5 800. I am giving 4 stars because of the price. Please notice that the RapidPro price is 24.9 euro in Europe (less than 33 dollars). If you purchase them in stock you can get for sure a better price. I think that a selling price of 40 dollars should be fine.

I bought 0.3 0.4 and 0.5 1500P from JetPens a few weeks ago and I used them more than once both to draw and to write notes. I have to say that this pencils have great features, but, as other reviewers wrote, they also seem to use low quality materials. Using them you really can't justify the price, in your hand they really seem too much "cheap". I really think that this 3 pencils are not wort the 75$ I spent for them.

I own many different...

I own many different mechanical pencils and I am a collector. I wanted to give the rotring 800 a try and I bought the 2.0 and the 0.5mm version, both in black color.

I have to say that the mp is solid and comfortable to use, if you love heavy writing staff like I do. The weight helps a lot in using a low force to write and draw nice black lines.

Anyway I can’t give more than 3 stars. Not because of the price, but because of the retractable tip. I love the idea but not how they made it. The tip seems to have a little of play, not very stable like other rotrings that I own. In the beginning I thought that it was a problem of my 0.5 so I made a video and sent it to other rotring 800 users that I found searching in ebay feedbacks. Most of them told me that they have the same “problem”. This is not something that you will easily notice when you write or draw, but from a rotring I expected more “stability”.

I am more then happy with the 2.0mm version, but I really don’t suggest to buy the 800 0.5 unless you can try it. I will not return it because, as I said, I am a collector, but if I had to decide what MP to buy I would go for a rapid pro or a 600.
