I ordered this pen because many reviews said it was a good, smooth, everyday pen - and it is. The nib doesn't scratch and the ink flow is very good. Of course, I rinsed it thoroughly before inserting the cartridge. As many people know (as I did before purchasing), it only takes short international cartridges. I tried my mini Monteverde converter, but it was too narrow and didn't stay in place.

I ordered the broad nib because hoping that it would be close to my Retro 51 fountain pen, which I love, and it is very close (though not quite as bold as the Lamy Safari broad). It's a short pen and very light and comfortable to hold. Good for every day writing.

I want to add an update since my last review. I just did a sketch on this paper, which I still say is a mid-weight. I used my A.G. Spalding fountain pen medium nib which provide a nice saturated flow. I heavily colored in some dark areas of the sketch using Waterman ink and it did not bleed through to the back of the page. I was surprised and impressed.

I ordered this converter for its size. I knew going in that this would not be the highest quality converter. I have a Retro 51 fountain pen that officially only takes small international cartridges. I figured for the price, it was worth a shot to try this converter - and it worked! Not perfectly though. For example: 1) The fit is not very tight, so it wobbles a bit. 2) After filling the ink fully and replacing the barrel, the plunger goes down a bit, so you don't get the full amount of ink. In the end, it writes very nicely. The ink started immediately and doesn't skip. I'm using Pelikan Brilliant Brown. I've had no problems with blotches, leaks or spills. So, I'm happy.

I like to use bottled inks. For me, it's part of the fountain pen experience, so although this is not a perfect solution, it's a nice option.

Nice smooth ink. More of a dark orange or brown orange than pure brown.

Not bad, but I'm a little sad. I bought this because I like my Moleskine sketchbooks and this, I believed, would be very close (and the price was right.) I just compared the paper to my old Moleskine sketchbook and it's definitely thinner which is a big disappointment. The description calls this heavy paper. I disagree. It's more of a mid-weight. If you were planning to use this book for adding watercolor to your sketches - I don't recommend it. I will be fine for pencil or ballpoint sketches. I probably won't reorder this.

Superior ink.

I bought this with a bottle of Lamy and this is even better. Deep, rich color and smooth flow. Will definitely buy again.

Very Happy.

I have wanted this pen since I first discovered JetPens last year. I also purchased a bottle of Platinum Blue/Black and the Pelikan converter recommended on the product description.

I got an email from customer service telling me the converter was not available. Elizabeth in customer service helped me select the Kaweco universal converter. It works great. The pen along with the Platinum ink writes immediately, smooth (no skipping), and doesn't scratch. It was everything I hoped for.

JetPens, as always THANK YOU for your exceptionally fast shipping and your excellent customer service. Thank you Elizabeth!

Very Happy. I have been craving this beautifully designed pen (as well as the orange wood AG Spalding) for months. A few days again I decided to go for it and it's lovely.

I ordered the CON20 converter, Lamy Blue ink as well as Platinum Blue/Black (which is in the Spalding, yeah I bought that too...) The ink works great - very smooth. I mention this because ink matters. Last year I bought a Lamy Safari and filled it with Noodler's Black eel. It was horrible. The pen skipped, scratched and spent the next six months in my pen tray. Last month I finally washed it out and inserted the blue cartridge that came with the pen. I finally loved it the way I wanted to when it first arrived. I'm saving the Noodlers for artwork with dip pens and brushes.

The Lamy ink in the Prera started immediately, writes smooth, and the nib doesn't scratch. I'm happy. The cap posts nicely and when you close the pen, the cap closes tight with a bit of suction. Nicely designed.

JetPens, as always THANK YOU for your exceptionally fast shipping and your excellent customer service. Thank you Elizabeth!

Just a note about the eraser. It does exist. It is hidden in the top of the cap. You have to post the cap on the pencil to access the eraser.

I wanted a good mechanical pencil and I lust over A.G. Spalding products. So this was a perfect choice. It has a sleek, impressive feel.

One caution to perspective buyers - in one image on this page, the pencil is resting on a case. This is not included, so don't be disappointed.
