I'm quite pleased with this pen. I lost my well loved Sharbo X and wanted a good
but not too fancy replacement. This is a budget fountain pen, and it writes like
one. But it's reliable, easy to use, extremely portable, and I'm quite happy
that Kaweco has finally decided that the gold accents on the standard sport
aren't everyone's cup of tea. The medium nib is great. All in all, a solid
I had my Pen Type-A for a few months and then sold it on eBay. I have to say,
it's a lovely pen, but not terribly practical. The edges of the case are so
sharp that they can damage the point of a hi-tec c if you use it as a ruler.
It's quite heavy. Certainly can only live on a desk. No chance that this can be
carried or live in a bag. It must be reinserted into the case every time you put
it down (as it will roll off your desk, likely breaking the tip). Overall, it's
definitely a worthwhile piece if you are willing to live with the limitations.
And it would certainly be fair to say that there's no such thing as a practical
$150 pen anyway. But for the money, I think there's better options.
Well, other than the retracting mechanism, which is cool, I like this much less
than the 600 which is half the price. Pen feels cheaper in the hand. The gold
hard wear is a bit much. I'm returning this one for sure. Also, the description
is incorrect. There is no lead hardness indicator on this pencil. Stick with the
600. You'll be happier.
Well, my initial enthusiasm for this pencil has been tempered a bit by use. It's
still a good instrument that goes into my pocket daily, but its got some issues.
First, the clip is ridiculously flimsy. It might work if you are clipping it
into a shirt pocket, but any other pocket, just forget it. Mine died long ago.
Second, the eraser cap is very loose. It fell off in the pocket any number of
times until I finally lost it for good. Third, you cant replace these parts
through Lamy (as far as I can tell). With a bit more attention to detail, this
could be the ultimate EDC pencil, but particularly considering the price, its
not there yet.
I like this pencil quite a bit. It's perfect for carrying around and jotting
notes. It's sharp looking and clips into my pocket nicely. It does give my hand
a cramp if I write with it too long and I find myself using other pencils or
pens when at my desk. Overall, though its perfect for what I use it for.
Field Notes are great! This special edition is lovely. I've written on it with
pencil, gel pen, fountain pen. No problems. A perfect memo book. Major issue
with these is remembering to take them out of your pocket so you don't send them
through the laundry...
