I just tried this pen (thank you JetPens for fast shipping :D) and I have to
agree with other reviewers on the smoothness of the nib in this pen. It writes
as well as all fountain pens should write.
I rate this one as better than a lot of other pens I have that cost considerably
more than what this Metropolitan costs. The size of the pen is perfect for me.
It is not weighty, so your hand should not tire quickly with it.
I don't know how Pilot can make such a remarkable pen at this price point, but I
am glad that they do.
If you are pondering purchase, the other reviews of this pen are accurate. It's
a must have...and for the price it makes for a great, everyday fountain pen.
Thus far, no problem using this product with a fountain pen. I have tried both a
Sheaffer 444 and a Pilot Prera with these pads. The Prera seems to do better,
but it is Japanese fine, so it is more like writing with a gel, etc. These pads
will probably not like a medium or broad fountain pen nib. I was happy with the
series packaging and the set.
I bought this to go along with the Sailor desk pen I got my brother for his
birthday. I sneaked a peek before wrapping it up. It is very well packaged.
After he opened it, I got to see it in action. The swivel is very well
constructed. It's tight and will stay where you put it.
Overall, good value and well made. I would recommend.
I have to agree with the other reviewers who stated this didn't match the sample
online. It is a sort of "olive drab", so I suppose the Army might like it. The
ink itself performs well and I will use it but it is not the shade that I had
I like the pen. Great writer in medium. The pocket clip is strong and helpful
for me since I have a job that requires a good deal of physical activity and
sometimes pens with poorly made clips fall out of my shirt pocket. Not so with
this pen. It's pretty rugged and I like the ergonomic grip. It's not a
decorative, pretty pen. Utilitarian, rugged and typical great German
engineering....it's great to take along in the field.
The only problem I had with the pen was a lengthy time (compared with other
fountain pens) in getting the pen settled in during it's first use. Lots of
skipping, etc. Once it was past this problem, it has been flawless since.
First of all, fast shipping on this order. Pen arrived today with blue black
This is an inexpensive pen but it is well constructed. Whether capping or
posting, the cap has a nice, secure snap to it. Writing quality and flow is
excellent. This pen writes a very fine line. The nib glides across paper. My
only suggestion on this pen to the manufacturer would be to offer this pen with
a medium and perhaps a broad nib.
Overall, this pen is much, much better than what one would expect at this price
point. It is a quality product with an excellent nib. So, if you are on the
fence on this one-buy it. You won't regret it.
