This pencil does not release more lead from the cartridge into the lead advance mechanism. The cartridge is actually just a portable lead container that is conveniently attached to the eraser and inserted into the body of the pencil. Now, for advancing the lead, it will automatically advance when worn down as well as by manually pushing in the black sleeve as betolung described. Once your piece of lead is nearly exhausted you will need to refill the advance mechanism with a new piece of lead. Here is where you said your had a problem. With this pencil you can't simply keep pushing the black sleeve for lead to come down from the cartridge. As I said, this is simply a container so you need to detach the cartridge from the body of the pencil and open up the black cap and remove a piece of lead. Please do NOT load from the front of the pencil! You will notice that if you try to do so, you might experience from slight pressure and you may even break your piece of lead. This is because of the way this pencil was designed, to only advance a small amount of lead at a time. So, instead drop the new piece of lead into the body of the pencil. I find that if you discard the tiny bit of lead left from your previous piece, you will experience less jamming. So the reason the cartridge is not as long as the entire body of the pencil is because the cartridge is what helps to secure the new piece of lead when you first push it out. This feature may make this pencil quite a hassle but I find that this pencil does not jam as you only use one piece of lead at a time. Hope this helps.

This is the worst pen...

This is the worst pen I've ever used. Maybe mine was a lemon because the ink cartridge dried up on me. I tried to get it working again with a little alcohol applied to the tip but the ink would not come out. I also don't like how the grip is just a flimsy plastic. The refills aren't here on JetPens yet so I tried to mod some other refills for it and none fit! Not even other Pentel refills fit this pen. It looked really nice so I thought I'd give it a chance, but the Tradio EnerGel pen is not for me.

I don't understand what...
I don't understand what this is either... Can someone from JetPens explain what exactly this product does? Is it simply a bottle cap? It looks a lot larger than a regular bottle cap.

These scissors are great!...

These scissors are great! True, most other scissors perform similarly but the grip and color are really nice! I'm glad they come in my favorite color and the non-stick feature works pretty well. I don't usually have to use scissors to cut tape, but they are effective for when I open boxes. The compact size is also easier to fit in my pen case.

This pen barrel also fits the Zebra Sarasa Clip refills. It does not, however, fit the "original" Sarasa pen that is sold on this site. The 0.7 mm and 0.5 mm Sarasa Pens without the binder clip feature sold in regular American office supply stores do fit this pen barrel.

To add on to my previous...
To add on to my previous review, I just discovered that this pen barrel also takes all the Signo RT refills! This pen is amazing! It takes Pilot Frixion 0.5 mm refills, Pilot Frixion Point 04 refills, Pilot G2 refills, Pilot Precise V5 RT refills, Signo RT refills, and Zebra Sarasa 0.7 mm refills (the kind you can buy from your local office supply store). I am getting my package of Zebra Sarasa (original and push clip version) from JetPens tomorrow and hope that they fit this pen as well. This pen is the king of retractable pens! The Signo Premier 207 pen does not look nearly as professional or elegant as this pen body does, but does take Signo and Zebra refills. This pen from Pilot can take refills from all three major pen companies. This pen is a bit on the heavy side and is unbalanced, but it looks classy and takes so many types of pen refills I don't really mind. This pen is a great buy!
