This is straight up my favorite waterbrush. I like the compact size, it's easy to squeeze out more water as needed, but it doesn't leak. It's comfortable in my hand (though I do have small hands - it's pretty short). I need to order another soon, as I am wearing the brush out!

I do wish it came with a plug like the Koi waterbrush, so I can transport it filled in two pieces, to take up less space, but that's my only complaint.

I ordered the Drawing insert to see if I liked it, and test it with light watercolor. I won't reorder it again after this one is used up, but it's really not bad paper - it's just not what I need for my style of art.

This is very heavy, very stiff paper. But it is (understandably) not for wet media - I have tried a couple of watercolor sketches, and you can't push the paint around at all, it buckles (which I don't mind) and it pills (which I *do* mind). If you were to just do a quick, small wash of color for a visual pop in a sketch, it's ok, though not ideal.

For drawing, I'm not fond of the texture with pencil. I like the plain unlined insert better for pencil sketching.

With an Pentel Pocket Brush Pen, it's actually pretty good, though the ink shows (*not* bleeds, just shows) through a little more than I would like.

Collage seems like it would work well - the paper stands up to glue well, and the piece I glued on doesn't show any signs of peeling off.

Once I use up the unlined insert that came with the Pelle journal, I will use this up by journaling in it, and then just make my own sketch or watercolor inserts.

I received my journal last week, and fell in love with this form factor. It's very portable, fits in my purse/bag very well. It's very customizable. I've added a charm to the elastic closure, I've made my own inserts - grid, sketch paper, watercolor, 2 made of an old map for collaging, and a 2-pocket thing made of an old file folder that will fit around one of the notebook-type inserts. I added an old name tag holder to the inside front cover (with double-sided tape) in the included insert to hold 3x5 cards and making-tape sticker sheets. The stock inserts are a little bigger than 8x8 - and not perfectly square. It's close enough though, that I am making my homemade inserts 8x8 and it works fine for me.

The included unlined insert is good paper. I have been using Uniball gel pens for writing, and that works quite nice and smooth; also tried out the light black Aquash Brush Pen filled with Pigment Ink, and it didn't bleed through.

What kept me from giving it a top rating is that, rather than being similar to the Midori Traveler's Notebook, it's an outright clone- right down to the positioning of text stamped in the leather, the box printed on the first page of the inserts, the packaging. They didn't take the idea and make it their own, they just imitated.

I went with the Pelle because I figured it was a little greener ordering something made here in the US where I am, but after getting it and comparing reviews online that show pictures of both side by side, the outright lift of design is so blatant that it made me uncomfortable.

I got this set in trying out several different waterbrushes. I ended up not using the brush much, as I like the Aquash brush better, but the water bottle makes the set worth purchasing on its own!
