This is a very good pen for its price but there are better.
The pen is compact but once you post it, its average length. Very comfortable to
write with. Its also very light and the color is pleasing to the eyes.
Extra fine nib writes great if you write at the right angle. If you deviate just
a bit, it'll skip the first letter but go right back to writing smoothly. My
Lamy fountain pens doesn't do that at all. (By angle, I mean something like 10
Other than that first letter skip at wrong angle, I've had no problem with
leaking, skipping or flow issues. It is a great pen and problem is minuscule but
I would probably stick to Lamy or keep trying different ones.
It takes international short cartridge so huge plus there. I get to use my J.
Oh and for those of you used to Japanese tiny nibs, this writes more like a fine
nib than extra fine.
The actual color isn't as bright as it looks on packaging. The actual ink is a
beautiful darker purple. In some lights, its hard to tell its purple but if you
look at it directly, its very clearly a purple.
Though the color itself is beautiful, I probably wouldn't buy it again as I was
hoping for a more violet than dark purple.
This was my first Lamy and I fell in love with it. I used to have a very
expensive fountain pen that got stolen. I always wanted another but decided to
buy an economical one to start. Boy, am I glad I did! I've bought several more
fountain pens since this one and its still my everyday go to pen. (even over my
The shape of the pen was odd but once I held it and started writing, it fit like
a glove. Its very comfortable to hold for a long period of time without my hand
hurting, which happens quite a bit with smaller or too large pens.
Flow is even and doesn't skip. Everything from handmade Italian papers to
regular printing papers, it wrote like a dream. There is one cheap post it I
have that it doesn't agree with but it's most likely the ink, not the pen. Pen
writes beautifully without skips but ink on that post it is blotchy. Otherwise,
its a thing of beauty.
I bought the fine nib and am perfectly happy with it but I need to purchase an
extra fine nib. I prefer my nibs small. If you're used to Asian pens, mainly
Japanese, this fine feels more like a medium.
